kronos451 01-10-07, 09:59 AM	This may be a stupid question, but I do not any of the Forgotten Realms referance books, I need to know what Psionics are concidered in the Realms? I've heard a list of things from psions haveing their own little pice of the weave to other things. Im just looking for some opinions If you have them. thanx for the help.

DreamStalker 01-10-07, 11:59 AM	No need to overly insult the person. People have various levels of command of the written language here. Plenty of spelling errors yet I could read the post just fine. To answer your question: FR uses the Psionics are the Same rule for mechanics. Psionics are a rare and misunderstood form of magic. Psionics do not tap into the Weave nor the Shadow Weave. Each source of Psionic power is basically equivalent to a miniature personal Weave. These personal Weaves are not of an oppossing or reflective nature as the Shadow Weave is to the true Weave. This lore can be found in the Players Guide to Faerun, one of the few sections that has new lore.

DreamStalker 01-10-07, 12:28 PM	I do not have my books on me so my memory of artifacts is very limited. Most likely the artifact would have its origins in either ancient Jhamdath or one of the psionic races of the Underdark.

It is about the size of the moon and every thousands of years the Crystal mind causes an eclips like sort of effect and bestowes the power of the mind on the planes. I think! (remember this was from memory and havent looked at this section of the book for some time now)

The last time it passed by the Empire of Jhamdath arose. Perhaps it is nearing again, awakening Auppenser and leading to a new age of glory for the Silent Art (the in character term for Psionics in the Realms). I will try to remember to post something a little more substantial when I get home to see my books.

My take on it is to tie it in with the Mind Flayers, basically the Mind Flayers travelled back in time (from a distant future), and then summoned the crystal mind as a giant psionic focus to permit them to dominate all life on Toril, but something went wrong and the crystal mind exploded driving Psycho-active crystal shards deep into the land, races that lived near one of these shards began to develop Psionic Abilities, this explains why psionics are seen as rare on Toril as most of the races which have psionics live in the underdark. Also the reason the mind flayers consume humanoid brains is they're trying to re-absorb the crystalline matrix that shatttered with the breakup of the crystal mind so they can reform it, the portions of this matrix are found in the brains the those who are psychic.

It's a rare non-magical talent that's perceived by most non-sages, if they know of it at all, to be one of the Realms' many strange types of magic. (Some sources peg it as a type of magic, but that's a clear rules artefact which distorts the Realms in favour of 'game balance'.) Wesley, the post doesn't look so bad to me. What irks me are the people who are too 'cool' to type out words in full and use the shift key, or who think they don't have to search before posting because their time is worth more than all their respondents' put together.
