| Volcom Shortblade07-31-05, 11:39 PM | I don't know if it belongs here but I would not know where else to post it so here it goes. I just cought wind of ONLINE ROLE PLAY. Where do I go to sign up? How is it done? Is it free? I am a new DM and I would realy like to just play so I can get the feel of other DM's style. Thanks |
| BrianCritchley07-31-05, 11:59 PM | well online roleplay is mostly done on message boards devoted to it, and via chat programs such as IRC. |
| Taylir08-01-05, 04:23 AM | Well there are several options for this actually, Neverwinter Nights (http://nwn.bioware.com/) would be the current one running with WotC blessings. Dungeons and Dragons Online aka DDO (http://www.ddo.com) is also in beta right now. There are also a few chat based clients with simple graphical interfaces for map rendering and such. One is called ScreenMonkey (http://www.nbos.com), with both a free Lite version and paid regular version. |
| Berzerker_prime08-02-05, 01:51 AM | Oooh! Oooh! Time for Berz to advertise!! As it happens, I'm getting one started right now. I've got three players and I wouldn't mind having a couple more before the campaign gets going. It's going to be set in Faerūn in 1372 DR, starting out in the North and venturing Ao only knows where after that. It's played via message board, not in real time, so you don't have to commit to being in chat at a certain time in order to play. The game is aimed at players who prefer to play characters rather than roll stats (it's for roleplayers, not rollplayers), and so it's going to be heavy on the character development and story-telling aspects of gaming. So, if you're interested, drop by Under a Silver Moon at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/under_silver_moon/ (same as the link in my sig) and see if it sounds like your cup of tea. We'd love to have ya! :mage: Berz. |
| vezina08-02-05, 03:41 PM | Time to bump this with another ad! Plothook (http://www.plothook.net/) Play by Post(Message Board) site with LOTS of games going on - especially Forgotten Realms. Also, a couple of Chat-based games as well. |
