Since Kara-Tur is a part of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, and the Oriental Adventures has the Rokugan Campaign Setting, has there been any discussion of maybe a Players Guide to Kara-Tur planned in the near future?

No and not to sound snotty but many of us have asked for updates to Zakhara, Kara-tur, and Maztica for almost four years.

"Someday, we might get to them," is the answer we keep getting.

However there was a little teaser in Dragon #315 and then the prestige class(s) in Unapproachable East.

I was just perusing my bookshelf, Kara-tur and the original 1E oriental adventures was written by Gary Gygax. How interesting.

Since they were a pointless add-on one would hope they don't waste their money. Or ours. :D

Since I happen to care for these "pointless" add ons I hope they do print them and it wouldn't be money wasted to me.

I enjoyed the Maztica suppliment. There was this "New World" aspect that was fun to run. Had a nice campaign that really didn't go anywhere that set the players as crew and then settlers for one of the Amn coloneies.

Personally thought I would rather see more indepth updates of some of the other realms. Given that, I would really prefer a more indepth view of some areas of the realms, and maybe some of the areas that were never explained or explored before in 2E. New source books for Tethyr, Amn, Calimshan, Cormyr, The Dales, Something that wraped up all of the islands off the coast, that type of thing. And then, something new to explore. I really wasn't impressed by the original detail for an amorphious Kara-Tur, but the Horde information....

I guess that I view Silverymoon and the North suppliment for FR the best extra that I have seen yet. Underdark wasn't bad, but for that I can get better details from some of the adventures for 2E and other materials.

I concur. They are not "pointless."

I also have the original Oriental Adventures 1E, although I did at one point also have the Kara-Tur boxed set, and one of the 2E OA adventures.

What kinda galls me is that, in the 3E OA, it keeps on referring to the KT setting, but doesn't do any specifics. Now don't get me wrong, but shouldn't they've released OA as a supplement for Forgotten Realms and then release a Rokugan supplement later?

What galls me is that these settings were released as part of the Forgotten Realms. I am convinced that they were attached to the Realms to sell and nothing more. They should have been released as independant settings (I'm not disputing their value, they were well done) and if they do ever reprint them thats how it should be done. Infortunately they keep getting mentioned in little blurbs here and there in the current source books so it seems that they're never going to go away in some shape or form. Unforturnatly. No one will ever change my mind about this, just as I understand that there are others who have just as strong feelings the other way.

The ToT, Kara-tur, Al Qadim, and Maztica are one of the few things about the Realms that really get under my skin.

Half of the world and arguably the most important historical event since the creation of the world, that's all. ;)

I love the foreign realms, Kara-tur especially, and I'm glad they're part of Toril, but I also understand where you're coming from. They weren't intregrated into the world in the same way.

I do so hope that they come out with a Beyond Faerun book.

That's not a half bad idea.

Just a quick note - Dragon 315 adapts OA for Kara-Tur and Dragon 318 updates OA to 3.5...

As to Rokugan - I find it quite interesting that they released OA with primarily Rokugan support, yet AEG *also* Released an OA book...

And they shouldn't have to go away since they are now a part of the world of Toril and again to the rest of us who use the WHOLE world of Toril they are not "pointless" nor do they "need to go away."

I think they're pointless, you do not. Let's agree to disagree.

Pointless or not, you can't unmake what already exists for the rest of the people who play the game...

I had forgotten about Dragon issue #315. Thanks!

Wouldn't it be nice if Paizo released with the final issue of each year, a cd or dvd filled with mechanics (such as all the classes, PrCs, feats, and skills) that had appeared during the year.

I know I would pay the extra $1 or $2 for it.

I just sent a letter off to WotC about having them do a Players Guide to Kara-Tur. Maybe if enough people request it, it'll happen!

If only I was a God..

Honestly why would I want to do that? All I'm saying is, for Wotc to not go down that road again. Others happen to disagree, which is fine. If we all agreed on everything it'd be pretty boring.

So, you just like to argue for entertainment purpose. :D

Still bored? :smirk:

What does everyone think of the Rokugan Sourcebook for Oriental Adventures, published by AEG?
