| greatestDM03-08-04, 10:06 PM | I created a "monster" NPC for the finally of my campaign. So far the story is that they have traveled from the Moonshae Isles and have met up with Artemis Entreri (Sorry if I messed up spelling, no book in front of me). Artemis turned out to be a Chosen of Mystra in disguise after the fall of one of the others. As you can tell I don't stick to any real rules on how Realms history is supposed to go. So I apologize for those who like to stick to the stories. Then the Shades started to advance to take over the world. Mainly the Silver Marches. The Shades converted their slaves into Shades to help fight for them. The players have performed very well and I want to reward them with a good climactic ending. Here are the stats for my creation: Edhellin Luva Human/Shade/Horned Devil (Converted by a powerful mage against his will) Fighter 10/Blackguard 8/Spellfire 5 Str: 20 Dex: 18 Con: 22 Int: 15 Wis: 15 Cha: 20 AC: 43 (Shade bonus, Horned Devil natural armor, Full plate) HP: 265 HD: 18d10+5d4+138 Initiative: +8 Frt: +23 Ref: +10 Will: +11 Unholy/Speed +5 Fullblade +36/+31/+26/+21/+36 2d8+12 17-20/x2 Fortification +2 Full Plate Feats: Endurance, Spellfire Wielder, Cleave, Improved Sunder, Power Attack, Improved Initiative, WF Spellfire, IC Fullblade, EW Fullblade, WF Fullblade, WS Fullblade, GWS Fullblade The Horned Devil's special abilities are gone except for Fear Aura and Regeneration. The spell like abilities for the Devil are lost too. What CR should I make him? Would an 18th level party be able to challenge him? Any responses? |

He has too few feats! as a 23rd lvl character he should have more: 7 character level feats, 1 human feat, 5 fighter feats, and 3 epic feats (ecl 27 for shade). I havent got a clue what the horned devil thing is you added. Its a monster, not a template, so im unsure what you did there. The 18th lvl party will have problem hitting it with that AC, especially if you let him drink a potion of shield (AC 47). I would tone the natural armour bonus down a bit and let him use the shield potion instead. But think a 18th lvl party could defeat him if found on his own. The CR for him by the book would be 25 (+whatever bonus you wana give with that horned devil stuff you did). He doesnt seem to have any protection from daylight or high lvl light spells though, which would negate all of the shade bonuses. I think if you decrease the AC a bit (maybe halve the nat armour bonus from horned devil, as he isnt a true devil and give him a few shield potions) and he shuld be all right. Of course, this also depends on how powerful the party is compared to him. |

If the party is like a sorc, a fighter and a cleric, no problem. The Fighter is a tank, the cleric heals him and the sorc cast his deadliest spells. |
