Once there was a time when I hated Faerun to the core, loathed everything about it, then I actually got a hold of the book and realized it was a my retard of a DM (ex-Dm, by more than 3 years). So I am debating running an adventure but I have no idea where to begin. What are the "can't miss" adventures that are watersheds of the setting?

'Iconic' is a marketing tool; please don't confuse what TSR/Wizards promote with what's really central to the setting.

In the top rank of Realms adventures I'd place FRQ1 Haunted Halls of Eveningstar and Ruins of Undermountain. Then there's a big tier of good-to-very-good scenarios including FRC2 Curse of the Azure Bonds, FA1 Halls of the High King, the two Myth Drannor dungeons republished in the Old Grey Box, Steven Schend's three Undermountain modules and Hellgate Keep, N5 Under Illefarn, Eric Boyd's adventures in Dungeon, and others. And then quite a few average to mediocre ones. It's probably too soon to see which of the 3E adventures become classic, but City of the Spider Queen has been much talked about and the kind-of-Realms-set The Red Hand of Doom has been praised.

Some more low-level modules apart from FRQ1:
"The Color of Ambition" (FRCS)
"Irongard" (Dungeon #18)
"The Raiders of Galath’s Roost" (Dungeon #87)
FRQ3 Doom of Daggerdale
The Sword of the Dales; The Secret of Spiderhaunt; The Return of Randal Morn
parts of Mysteries of the Moonsea
N5 Under Illefarn
The Twilight Tomb

I enjoyed immensely the Underdark boxed set from 2e.

This probably doesn't help much, but since previous posters have given extensive information, I though I'd throw it in. One of WotC's upcoming deluxe adventures appears to be Expedition to Undermountain, probably the third one, after Expedition to Castle Greyhawk. I think Amazon has a release date of June 2007.
