| Andyr08-19-07, 09:17 AM | At GenCon it was announced that 4E will see the end of Living Greyhawk, and we'll have a Living Forgotten Realms campaign instead: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=908402 Does anyone know if this means beyond the FRCS the FR will stop receiving the level of support (in terms of novels, game supplements and the like) that we've had over 3.xE? I really hope not. The FR are so well-developed that I don't know how a Living FR campaign could run without stepping on the toes of lots of canon information. (If anyone has any more information on the subject, I'd be grateful if they could post it.) |

(If anyone has any more information on the subject, I'd be grateful if they could post it.) Well, this issue is being discussed in the 4th edition Forgotten Realms thread over at the 4th edition general forum. Here are some excerpts of that discussion: [...]Considering they mentioned that it is their most popular camapign setting, that also means that it is one of their main sources of income. I don't see them abandoning the Forgotten Realms Setting for JUST RPGA. It will continue to be a complete setting will sourcebooks and all. It will just grow to also include the online bonuses if your interested in that and the RPGA aspect. 2 different uses for the realms but still usable by both if you are not interested in one of them.[...] [...]Since I don't game online, that strikes me as indifferent. I think that despite the Living FR RPGA, sourcebooks and printed material for it will continue to come out as regularly as they did in the past. And why they shouldn't? It's the most popular D&D setting like Wotc themselves said, meaning that it has the best sales figures regarding campaign worlds.[...] |
