Seeing as I've recently bought Stormwrack, I'm incredibly satisfied with it, and have already begun to conceive implementing material from it into FR.

This thread is for general ideas, examples, or sharing of how YOU have done the same. :)

The Sea Witch just screams Umberlee (unfortunately...), and the new Blackwater and Seafolk domains open things up a bit for the deities, not to mention the slew of new spells.

I'm not quite sure how Aventi or Hadozee would fit perfectly into Faerun (I don't know, maybe Aventi could venerate Eadro or Istishia instead of their god), but the monsters would fit perfectly methinks. I seem to recall reading that Anguillians were in Faerun in previous editions- is this true for any of the other races? :) (I doubt it.)

I'm definetely going to reinstate Eadro as one of the powers of Faerun (though City of Splendors has already done that technically...). I think the Animal, Ocean, Protection, Seafolk, and Water domains fit nicely for him, no? Though I'll eventually need to get Sea of Fallen Stars and Monster Mythology for full dirt on the Diving Bard.

This thread is meant as a general brainpool or sharing area for how to implement non-FR-specified material. So it can also include Sandstorm, Frostburn, Complete Warrior/Arcane/Divine/Adventurer, Fiend Folio, et al. So feel free to join in. :D

I am currently using Stormwrack heavily in my current campaign. The PC's were based out of Westgate, but they slew a red wizard in the Thayan enclave there and suddenly Westgate was crawling with red wizards and bounty hunters searching for them. So they took a job across the waves in Cormyr.

But they failed to pray to Umberlee when boarding the ship, in fact, when sailors asked them to make an offering to Umberlee before they set sail, the players scoffed and said something very offensive to the goddess. :raincloud So naturally a horrible storm blew them far off course and shipwrecked them on a strange island somewhere in the Pirate Isles to the west.

So now my campaign has taken a fun diversion into Ray Harryhausen territory. It is a combination of Lost, King Kong, the Lost World, Voyages of Sinbad, and the Odyssey.

I used the Hag adventure pretty much straight from Stormwrack, although the Island is a lot bigger and covered with Jungle. I put the hags inside of a skull shaped cave that could be seen from afar. When the players went to explore in the Jungle they were attacked by a T-Rex. They have encountered a tribe of arborial Hadozee that live in tree dwellings. There is another shipwreck with pirate ghosts. Tree-climbing displacer beasts that attacked (with reach!) from the tree canopy above. One of the hags survived and is stalking the party. There is a tribe of were-scorpions that live in the cliffs.

The party will fix their ship eventually and head off to Cormyr, but the Island has proven a lot of fun for me (and hopefully the players too) so I am enjoying it for now. Once they set sail, I am sure I will use a few more of the nautical encounters from Stormwrack before they get to Cormyr.

I really, really enjoyed/am enjoying Stormwrack. I have wanted to do a big water themed adventure for a long time, and Stormwrack has provided a whole wealth of ideas and tools for me to use in my campaign. :) :coolcthul

Considering that the Hadozee were first introduced in Spelljammer, and that Spelljammer does still exist in the Realms, even if it isn't supported anymore, they shouldn't be too much of a problem to bring about, just in small numbers though.

Ah okay good, I've always felt that the complete series had a lot to offer the game worlds. Probably not everyone agreed with me, but my stance is that having another character type to play drastically increases the role playing possiblities. So perhaps the class from complete warrior doesn't tie in with 20000 years of sun elf history, or play a major role in the Damaran Witch King wars or had a role in the death of Thauglor of Cormyr, that doesn't mean that it isn't valid, useful and drop dead cool to boot.

The thing is, Faerun is a vibrant, living world. Thats the way Ed Greenwood wrote it and thats the way we like it. So, take the invisible blade prc for example, wonderful flavor, the cocky upstart gladiator with nothing but two daggers and his wits to defend himself with. Or the Initiate of the sevenfold veil, a wizard who has taken it upon himself to study not just one school of magic, but a single class of spell to the exclusion of all others. The former could be a half elf foundling trained in his deadly arts by the Westgate arena, the latter an aasimar descendent of a Coatl recently arrived in Waterdeep from Selunarra on a mission to locate her lost brother in the art.

So I say, make your own histories, Faerun is a well written world, and its history abounds with people with abilities that set them apart from mere adventurers. Swashbucklers, Ninjas, frenzied beserkers, dervishes, geometers and many many others I can't remember, all of them can (and if Eric L Boyd's work is any indication, do) play a role to make Faerun a more dangerous, unpredictable, and wonderous place.

Thats how I see things, anything can be easily placed in Toril.

We love the new options the complete books give our group and Stormwrack is a wonderful book, the best of the environment books so far in my opinion.

Heroes of Horror is another fave of mine.

Hadozee are fun, one of my players is going to use the rules for them as a way to play a faerunian version of "Beast" from X-men. He is perfecting his "Fraser Crane voice" and has written a lengthy background telling a tragic tale of his life, he was formaly a normal human but was warped by exposure to a divine battle during the time of troubles, leaving him a shaggy, beastman with long honey coloured fur, he turned to a life of adventure in order to find a way to reclaim his humanity!

Champions of Valor opened a can of worms in that case then, giving suggestions for Goliaths, Illumians, and Raptorians in the Realms.

Excellent, would you mind sharing those bits of info with us? :)
I dont get Champions of Valor until next week (apparently) so I'd love to learn what the book says about those races.

Great posts y'all. This is exactly what I had in mind. :)

warlockco, so they've done that for CoV too eh? I know that MM III had a lot of "how to implement x in FR/Eb" (but so many in detail for Eberron that it should have been called Monsters of Eberron...), so CoV should do nicely too. I've heard some interesting things of the Goliaths (I've not bought any Eberron products).

Anyway, even though they've not been in previous editions of FR, Aventi should be pretty easy to credibly and coherently fit into Faerun. Aventi could have perhaps, been a seagoing branch of the ancient human races, maybe a proto-Aglarondan/Damaran/Rashemi due to the Aventi's sense of honor, who adopted Averentus as their deity, then Umberlee, in one of her trademark childish temper-tantrums, sank the islands and kingdoms that the humans had and then the rest is history. I don't know, this is just off of the top of my head as I type, just brainpooling. :)

One more thing. Ever since Races of Faerun, and into Maelstrom, I've had questions regarding half-aquatic elves' Water Adaptation feat. Since it (presumably) grants water breathing as an extraordinary ability, they'd need gills; yet in Savage Species (under the Ritual of Gills), possessing gills adds +5 to Disguise DCs. Yet this is not mentioned under aquatic elves nor their half-elves.

What's the deal I wonder?

Anyway, what are some ideas of Aventernus's divine stats? I'd go with:

Aventernus
Alignment: Lawful Good
Divine Spellcaster Alignments: LG, LN, NG
Worshippers: Aventi, noble warriors
Porfolio: Aventi, honor, justice, undersea ruins
Domains: Good, Law, Ocean, Seafolk, Strength, Water
Favored Weapon: Spear

I need some fluff brainpooling on incorporating Aventi into the Realms, any ideas or critiquing? :)

IMC The Aventi are survivors of jhaamdath, from one of the few cities of the empire still loyal to auppenaser(sp?) instead of the emperor. When the elves(sore losers) sank the empire with the giant tidal wave, auppenaser(sp?) transformed them into psionicly active Aventi to survive.

Yeah, at least give us the basics, like where they suggest to encounter these races.

These are notes from games I've been in:

In one game, we had the Underfolk (from Races of Destiny) as servants of Ilphemon who'd tried to sell him out to the Mulhorandi. He took them underground with him "to escape" and then let them know that he knew of their plot and cast them out into the Underdark to survive on their own.

Aventi might be survivors from one of Nethril's underwater cities?

We actually originally had Goliath's from the mountains of Thay, but that's outdated now, I guess.

Someone in my group suggested that the Words of Creation (Book of Exalted Deeds) be used to represent Milil's Words of Fire.
Beloved of Valarian – Beloved of Lurue
Initiate of Pistis Sofia – Initiate of Ilmater?
Lion of Talisid – Lion of Nobanion?

Anvil of Thunder style – Clearly Dwarven, but where?

Ravager – Organized by Church of Garagos?
Firestorm Berserker – Orog?
Swanmay and Fochlucan Lyrist from the Moonsea?

The Green Star Adept's "green star" comes from the Tears of Selune.

I played a character that was convinced (actually, was going to be convinced) that the Geometer tradition was the one that created Sigil.

Halfling Outrider as the White Riders of Luiren.
The Stout are a small clan in Deepburrow.
The Tallfellow are from the Chondalwood.

Warmage popular in Cormyr.
Shaman popular among the Uthgardt tribes.
The Warlock we could see a lot of uses for, but Nar especially?
The Favored Souls are somewhat more common in Mulhorand.

Susalian Chainweave – Evermeet? Chainweave
Serren – grows in Sildeyuir?
