Does anyone know any of this information or has any suggestions, let me know. I would personally like a book about Undermountain, or Halrua and the Culthan Peninsula. Greetings, a Dutch Dm :)

Serpent Kingdoms will likely feature Chult and the other jungle Kingdom next door

Rich baker let it be known that there would be a 'Waterdeep Source book" coming out next year around the same time Ed Greenwood and Elaine Cunninghams novel comes out

As for the origonal question

Id like to see an Old Empires Source book and a Cold lands book

01-15-04, 04:50 PM There is the Waterdeep book coming out after the Serpent one. I think it has stuff about Undermountain, but I can't recall. I think it does, though.

I've also heard rumors that they are thinking about a book that details LOST EMPIRES of the FR. It goes into detail about all the lost kingdoms and empires that are in FR. I am sure it has lots of info to develop dungeons and a ton of treasure that you can pull from the ruins. I think that this would be one amazing supplement.

I particularly don't want to see one about Chult and Hulrau, as I find those areas rather far off base from where I play my games. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

I DO want to see something for the Moonsea region! That would be great. I have heard that the next Volo's Guide series (before it was suspended) was to be the Moonsea region. I sure wish it was continued.....

I would also like to see Sembia done, but I am worried that it wouldn't be what I would want. I am sure that it would concentrate too much on the Silver Ravens and not on what the country is like. A Volo's Guide to Sembia would be a real treat, too.

02-04-04, 07:51 PM I second the call for a Sembia book. I think the original idea of Sembia being a "blank slate" country has held on for too long, and more detail about a fascinating region. In reading the novels, my brain made an immediate connection between the merchant houses' conflicts and the many-layered intrigue from the Dune novels--something that I think has immense potential in a campaign.

Waterdeep seems a little superfluous, considering the amount of attention it has received in the past. Of course this info is outdated 2e stuff, but Undermountain and the city above have been exhaustively detailed, second only to Shadowdale. Don't get me wrong; I'm sure such a sourcebook would be useful, and I would incorporate it into my campaign. Personally, however, I would prefer to see more attention paid to lesser known or even unknown regions (particularly the Vast, the regions of the Shining South, or the Old Empires).

02-04-04, 09:07 PM I'd like to see an 'Old Kingdoms' supplement too. With all the intrigue and war going on in Unther / Mulhorand I need more info and explaination about all of it. That whole regoin - Chessenta,Unther,Mulhorand,Thay, the Mulhorand sister states, Lurien, Great Rift, and on into Kara-tur.

I'd like to see the other areas of Toril - Kara-Tur, Zakaria, Maztica, etc.... done as well.

Anyone have any info or homebrew on the Unther/Mulhorand war , drop me a line. Thanks . :cool:

02-05-04, 03:16 AM On Regional Sourcebooks, I´d love to see the part of the Western Heartlands fleshed out, that lies between the Dalelands/Sembia/Cormyr and the Swordcoast. WotC did a great job with the northern portion "Silver Marches".

Although they´ve been done in previos editions, I´d love to see Waterdeep fleshed out anew again. Maybe even something called "The Cities", combining larger metropols from around the realms, including adventure hooks, npc´s and the like.

A revised Volo´s Guide series would be welcomed as well, although with less rules information but even more so a mixture between novel/travel guide (along with better art than in the original Volo´s)

By the way, we´ve seen sourcebooks aplenty, what about Modules and Adventures? Lacking time for preparation sometimes, I´d just be excited to see "Waterdeep-Adventures", "Dalelands-Adventures" or "Silver Marches-Adventures" (Don´t get me wrong, I know SM had adventures, but what about longer storylines, getting even more deeply involved into the specific local flair?)

But my favourite would be the last mentioned by me: A REVISED Heroes and Villains Lorebook. Many novels have been written, our beloved characters have travelled far... It´s about time for those who can´t afford to read each and every novel to get an update and synopsis on all the global and minor players within the world that is called Toril. PLEASE WotC, DO THAT ONE FOR US!

There is going to be a 3.5 Waterdeep sourcebook coming out in 2005 around the same time Ed's and Elaine's Waterdeep novel is also supposed to come out.

Since Waterdeep (and hopefully Undermountain) is already planned, my next wish is for the Lands of Intrigue or the Vilhon Reach areas.

While they may not directly use the results of such a poll to determine the next book, I do think that a poll would be useful for them to see which areas have interest.

It isn't that well explored (compared to fx. Waterdeep) and it is an essential region when playing in Cormyr, Dalelands and Sembia.
The whole Bane Return thing, and all that, also screams for more attention (and no more drow...please...).

I have to agree, the old maztica, al-quadim and Kara-tur campaign should be updated (and expanded please)
I think it is a shame that oriental camp. sett. has taken over Kara-tur.

But yea, Maztica could be updated/Fixed (how did those that turned to orcs automatically know a learned language{orcish} anyway?)

Perhaps a Sembia/Cormyr/Dales book could work.

Not true. Maztica has a lot of settlements and deities and mortals from Faerun. Zakhara also has some deities from Faerun like Lolth and Helm and Gond and Clangeddin. Plus there is a NPC in Zakhara that is almost named the same as Elminster and it even says in this NPC's entry some thing like "I am not the Elminster from Faerun."

Zakhara also has a airship that was stolen from Haluraa, etc. SO YES those continents have a lot to do with Faerun. Are you also forgeting the Golden Way that leads right up to Waterdeep from Kara-Tur.

02-05-04, 05:41 PM I need to agree with Mystery Man on this, well, not the “you have calimshan, endless wastes and chult” but that I don’t want any Maztica, Kara-Tur or Zakhara rehash for 3.ed. (not the Horde either for that case)
These settings where shameless rip offs from real world places. Sure, we can all argue that so is Faerun, but not like these places.

If there was ever going to be a remake of these places, they need a bucked and a half with original ideas that are good. They also need to drop 80% of the stuff that was printed in 2.ed and just make something new.

And on top of that, we only get 3-4 FR books per year, I don’t want to waste one of those on these settings that where horrible in 2.ed. I’d rather have a Faerun book about “the cold north, past the spine of the world” book, and a “Deep waters: What lies deep in the see of fallen start” book then a new book about Maztica. Perhaps in 2009 or something, when every other part of Faerun has been fleshed out, but not before.

In that order.

Why?

1) The old Vilhon Reach 2E source book can be downloaded right here at Wizards, I read it and it just made me hungrier for more and more!

2) Ditto with the Sembia Novel series and the fact that they're neighbours/Rivals to Cormyr. Its always good to know your enemies.

3) I for one like Oriental characters and Martial Arts. We have a Monk base class, but it sure isn't a European style Monk!

02-07-04, 09:37 PM As a DM I would really like Wizards to finally flesh out Maztica, TSR did a very inadequate job... in fact I do not believe they published any material on Maztica whatsoever... Since my PCs decided they wanted to travel to the "New World" I got stuck building a culture and fleshing out too many details. Although some people might dislike the idea of Maztica, because its a more obvious rip off the real world, it is always nice to have the option. And besides I never ever want to create so much "fluff" about Maztica by myself ever again... Hmm... why do I allow my Pcs flexibility... heh grr (sorry they ran like sissies from the on going campaign cause they were sick of barely living)

btw if there is any published material (other than that crappy 1 and a half pages that came with lands of intrigue) I would really appreciate if someone would point me to it.

Are you kidding? Granted there wasn't that much Maztica stuff but there was more then just the Lands of Intrigue stuff. :)

02-08-04, 01:52 PM Western Heartlands and Lake of Steam/Border Kingdoms win my vote, with the latter edging it because I know very little about them. Are there any old sourcebooks detailing that area of the south?

02-08-04, 04:21 PM The Lake of Steam is detailed in Empires of the Shining Sea, the Border Kingdoms (A-O of them, anyway -- Wizards has the rest but isn't doing anything with it) in Polyhedron #109-148 (skipping some issues).

I want to see the Heartlands detailed in the detail they have in Ed's notes, and which they just began to get with the Volo's Guides. The smaller a region each book covers, the more new lore it can contain. I'm happy with the present approach of alternating Heartlands with non-Heartlands places.

Reefy 02-08-04, 01:52 PM	Western Heartlands and Lake of Steam/Border Kingdoms win my vote, with the latter edging it because I know very little about them. Are there any old sourcebooks detailing that area of the south?
Faraer 02-08-04, 04:21 PM	The Lake of Steam is detailed in Empires of the Shining Sea, the Border Kingdoms (A-O of them, anyway -- Wizards has the rest but isn't doing anything with it) in Polyhedron #109-148 (skipping some issues). I want to see the Heartlands detailed in the detail they have in Ed's notes, and which they just began to get with the Volo's Guides. The smaller a region each book covers, the more new lore it can contain. I'm happy with the present approach of alternating Heartlands with non-Heartlands places.
