Info about Silence of Lolth [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-07-07, 05:10 PM Does anybody know how long does the Silence of Lolth last?
It starts in 1372, but is it still ... silence.. in 1374?

What happens in the meantime with Lolth, except her dealings with Vhaerun, is there any other MAJOR event?

And does anybody know why she really stops granting spells? Its part of her chaos portfolio or another reason?

I am looking for a few fast answers, so as to prepare a drow character with some info, cause he is starting tomorrow with the Spider City adv.

06-07-07, 07:53 PM Eric Boyd's Volo's Guide article [from DRAGON #354] notes that Lolth's Silence began in Eleasis 28, 1372 DR and ends on Ches 28, 1373 DR.

I imagine it is because while she was 'busy' (won't post spoilers for what happens at the end of her Silence, in case you don't know) she had to spend all her attention on herself. Or it might have been a matter of choice, and for her own amusement; I don't think it is explicitly stated.

Have you read the War of the Spider Queen book series? The ending is awful but it explains a lot of the Silence of Lolth.

Other than that, let us just say the other Drow gods got uppity and Lolth had to clarify the meaning of 'Intermediate Deity' after the silence ended.

Now to spoil what is left of the mystery:
SPOILERS

Loth went into seclusion to reform(?) herself and came out of it as a 'new' Lolth who created the Demonweb Pits as their own plane instead of the 66th layer of the Abyss.
Her Lesser Deity minion Kiaransalee tried to take over some cities and Vhareun and Selvetarum ended up fighting. Eilistraee tried to send people to kill Lolth and failed while everyone else on the face of Fearun tried to kill their least favorite Drow city. Ouch. This is a vague and brief as possible so that those of you who missed the Spoilers warning above don't hunt me down and kill me. Please.
