Since the other thread has turned into a debate about CR and EL...

Please use this thread to pull together anything we know about the series of FR megaadventures slated for 2007.

Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave is the first-ever Forgotten Realms hardcover super-adventure! Designed to take characters from 4th to 8th level, the adventure pits the heroes against the evil agents of Shar and Cyric as they plot to corrupt the worship of Mystra, goddess of magic. The adventure begins in Cormyr, but the characters must also travel to the Plane of Shadow to thwart the villains’ machinations.

This adventure can be run as a stand-alone adventure or as part one of an epic three-part series of hardcover adventures set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.

Shadowdale: The Scouring of the Land

Elminster’s tower lies in ruins, and the town of Shadowdale has been conquered by evil Sharrans and the nefarious forces of Zhentil Keep. To drive the villains out of Shadowdale, the heroes must organize and lead a desperate revolt of Dalesfolk against their conquerors, as well as thwart the sinister designs of Shar’s servants and the Zhent garrison.

Shadowdale: The Weave Unwinding is the second part of a three-part series of 160-page hardcover super-adventures set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, although it can be easily played as a stand-alone adventure. In addition to encounters, this book contains detailed source material on the town of Shadowdale and environs.

Other info (correct me if I'm wrong):

Eric Boyd has said over at Candlekeep that the "when" of the adventure is flexible - i.e. it can take place at various points of the FR timeline.

Paul Kemp said there were connections to his Shadow War trilogy.

Now they're in the catalogue, would anyone from WotC be incline to let us know a little more?

Thanks!

-When the discussion in another thread digresses, you aren't supposed to open up a new thread on the same exact topic. Just try to steer everyone back to the original question/idea/statement.

Granted, but I'd rather have a thread for any actual info we have, rather than a thread full of b*tching and moaning about material we haven't seen.

I'm really interested in the adventures. In our current campaign, I ran the PCs through a modified Speaker in Dreams set in Tilverton. The other night, they found out that the town they saved is now a black crater.

When Cormyr: Tearing of the Weave arrives, we'll be starting another campaign with new PCs, but the players will have a keen interest in the whole When Shades Attack! plot. Likewise, I'm getting their current PCs familiar with the Dales and the Dalesfolk, so that they care more about what happens in Scouring of the Land...looking forward to it.

So, what exactly do you want to discuss about an adventure that isn't out yet, and we have no more information on?

Speculation as to what might happen and why?

Edit: To get the ball rolling...

I spectulate that the Weave will be torn by a 3rd level apprentice in Deepingdale with a candlestick.

-You know, in that Forgotten Realms movie that everyone always talks about, I play Cormyrian Farmer with Pitchfork, #3.

It figures that you'd be the one to tear the Weave.

Don't worry, I've got some Nchaser's Dimensional Duct Tape handy, we'll patch that sucker right back up.

Shortest adventure ever.

No, I joined 5 years to the month before you. ;) I've just got less time on my hands than some.

I started a new thread because I hoped somebody may have some new info on these adventures, in particular the first one.

If no one has, no big deal, let it die.

I speculate that when it happens, I'll be munching on popcorn* in Gehenna or Khin-Oin, clapping with glee and giggling about various deities and their followers dying. That tends to be a frequent weekend thing with me.

*and by popcorn I mean larvae

That was a non-super adventure. Maybe a mega adventure, or a Hyper Adventure. Or a Moderatly Powerful, but not "Grow your Hair Five feet and turn it blond" adventure.

I'm not sure if a 4-8 game qualifies for super adventure in that bit too.

I'm starting a Cormyrian game with Cormyr: Tearing of the Weave, and my players want some info on what type of game it is(city based?, dungeon? etc.); I am having trouble answering due to no info on the module...can anyone help?

It's referring to all three parts: Cormyr, Shadowdale, and Anauroch

Hey wizards, can we get some general info posted for Cormyr:Tearing of the Weave...like starting setting (which city in Cormyr?) and if it is wilderness or city or dungeon based, or some combination?

Doubtful they will give anything away until it's release next month.

I did find out it takes place (not sure if it's where it starts or not) in the "Vast Swamp" in Cormyr...

"Cormyr has an appendix discussing the region around the Vast Swamp, where the adventure takes place." - from the 'The one and only "Ask the Realms authors/designers thread" 3'

Oh, also they said it was on the hard side for 4th lvl chars.; they said 5th lvl would be fine as well. 3rd would not survive...

Are you sure? I thought the first adventure took the PCs from 4th to ~8th. I don't see an 8th level party surviving a serious encounter with the shadowvar.

Cormyr = 4th - 8th
Shadowdale = 8th -13th
Anauroch = 13th - possibly Epic.

What I was saying to Brian was it was considered a Super Adventure, when all three of it's parts were combined :)

OK. I follow now. I was wondering about Shadowdale and Anauroch also because the product promos don't seem to mention the levels.

Does these adventures have anything to do with the Return of the Archwizards Trilogy ?

Since the last one has Anauroch getting 'sundered', we have to assume the Shades will at least be a little upset. ;)

It will never go epic, I don't think wizards has the stomach to go Epic, but that's just me...when have you ever seen an adventure published by them other than the one in the back of the ELH be for epic characters? No, it will be like City of the Spider Queen, it will take characters to 18th and beyond, but they adventure WILL NOT be designed to go Epic. Yeah, WOTC, I'm calling your bluff.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a SUPER CAMPAIGN/ADVENTURE...one that will take the PC's from 1st to 40th or something like that, but again, WOTC doesn't have stomach to take on a challenge like that, hence the "Super Adventure" that only takes PC's from 4th to 19-20th.

Just my two cents.
