| Bolithio03-08-07, 12:44 PM | What ever happened to Ravens Bluff? I was looking though old stuff and found my "living" city supplements. I always thought that was a good idea. Is it just dead now? |
| Faraer03-08-07, 05:32 PM | I'm not exactly sure. Living City was taken over by Organized Play for a few years; I think it's inactive now. In any case, the events of the RPGA and Living City campaigns aren't canonical except to the extent that the former saw print in books such as City of Ravens Bluff. Was it a good idea? I'm sure it was fun for people, but the lore it generated was dreadful, and the campaigns seemed riddled with politics and powergaming. |
| MarkusTay6303-08-07, 05:44 PM | The Living City campaign(s) are as alive as the RPG network. which means they are gasping their last breath.... :rolleye2: Raven's Bluff, along with several other Vast campaigns, were dropped some time ago, and at this point the company is actually going after groups that have kept the campaigns 'alive' after RPGN/WotC pulled the plug. You can read about the whole sordid affair HERE. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=799871) It's a very sad thread. :( |
| Stigger03-09-07, 07:25 PM | Read that thread a few days ago... was a very disgusting read for me. :( |
| Bolithio03-09-07, 07:29 PM | I think im going to pass on that..... Ravens Bluff was one of my favorite places... So, it could be for the best. DMs option - is IMHO always the best. Thanks.... as a side note, one of the coolest NPCs ever, was a Vampire lady - whose long lost husband was MIA at sea. She was a good "hearted" women however, and ran a high-end Inn for ship captains - who reminded her of her lost love. The captains who stayed here payed a reasonable fee, and just a little of their own blood to help her with her...condition. Good Stuff. |
| Kouk03-13-07, 03:48 AM | I am running a Ravens Bluff campaign now actually. They published a novel about the game of masks recently, but I don't own it. |
| MalariaMoon03-17-07, 06:31 AM | I downloaded the Raven's Bluff 2nd ed accessory from the Wizards website the other day and tried to give it a read. Considering the general silliness of the characters (General Dandelion!) it just seemed that it had veered far away from a bonafide Realms "vibe". So to be honest if the Living City is dead, best not resurrect it. The concept was interesting, but the feel of the content was all wrong. I think Mr. Greenwood should be flogged into continually churning out Realmslore until his dying breath, it just strikes me that his sense of the place perfect. Then not surprising considering he gave birth to it! |
