| AvengedMutablegenus04-22-04, 11:50 PM | well, did you play 2ed? Basically one the major changes were how the ability mods worked and THAC0. It's uber-complicated... if i was like stupid, i'd let you burrow my 2.0 DMG, but i'm not , so i won't:D ;) |
| Another Gnome04-23-04, 12:03 AM | Easiest way to convert something from 2E is to simply rewrite everything to suit your tastes. That's not all sarcasm either, as chances are you'll eventually run into something that simply has to go or something that could be better if something more elegant was brought in from the new rules. And once you start cutting and pasting with one part of an adventure, you probably want to reconsider things that first seemed to convert without trouble, so you might as well rewrite the whole thing from the ground up. But, if you really want to convert things, have a look at Wizards website, there are two articles you may find useful. One is to convert from 2E to 3.0 and the other from 3.0 to 3.5. It may take a little digging to find them - assuming you don't have them already. While I doubt anyone has bothered documenting a straight 2E to 3.5 conversion, you can of course do a search around the net for one. |

You'll have to do it in two steps. First, get the AD&D to 3rd Ed. conversion PDF. Then get the 3.0 -> 3.5 conversion document. Both are, IIRC, available here on the WOTC website. |

| Straploknight04-26-04, 11:48 AM | Try this its the 2nd Ed to 3.0 Ed conversion booklet (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/DnD_CYC_intro.asp) However I tend to side with AG. Reinvent the character to suit the orginal concept. Especially if you were using bent rules to facilitate the orginal 2nd or 1st Ed character concept. (like a fighter using the bard blade kit instead of the weapon master kit). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay so I read little farther into that by not reading past the first line. :D I still agree with AG though on the topic. |
