| Zanan12-25-07, 09:26 AM | hello everybody and happy new year.:D Did someone know if wiz will release new books with jarlaxe as main character? Dunno if someone "did" know, but I guess that all this Sellsword series of RAS ... http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/frnovel/959437400 ... is enough of him. Just hop into the Ask Richard Baker thread and try your luck with the Chief FR designer. |
| Redrake12-25-07, 01:22 PM | For now RA Salvatore is dedicating his time to writing the next 2 Drizzt books, The Pirate King and The Ghost King. After that, who knows? He did said some time ago that one of his projects is to write a book about Jarlaxle and Zaknafein placed long before Drizzt was born. |
| Lord Karsus12-25-07, 04:32 PM | -Odds are, there will eventually be more novels/short stories involving Jarlaxle. |
| Redrake12-25-07, 05:13 PM | -Odds are, there will eventually be more novels/short stories involving Jarlaxle. If he's going to renew his contract with WotSC.;) |
| Lord Karsus12-25-07, 06:21 PM | If he's going to renew his contract with WotSC.;) -Wizards of the...Spider Coast? ;) |
| Redrake12-26-07, 02:08 AM | Warlocks. Starting with 4E they are Warlocks of the Spider Cave.:D |
| Lord Karsus12-26-07, 02:11 AM | Warlocks. Starting with 4E they are Warlocks of the Spider Cave.:D -Ah, I see. |
| ilwe12-26-07, 04:23 AM | So letīs hope that Jarlaxe will got some adventures in the future. |
| Lord Karsus12-26-07, 04:49 AM | So letīs hope that Jarlaxe will got some adventures in the future. -That he will have adventures in the future is a given. That we will be told of said adventures is what's up in the air. |
| Redrake12-26-07, 07:35 AM | Jarlaxle perhaps, but not Jarlaxe.:P |
| Kenzuki12-27-07, 09:19 AM | I personally hope he writes more about Artemis Entreri, he's the best Realms character EVER. |
| The_Shaman12-27-07, 10:45 AM | Suit yourself; I much prefer Jarlaxle. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin12-27-07, 11:58 AM | Suit yourself; I much prefer Jarlaxle. Agreed. |
| Lord Karsus12-27-07, 02:11 PM | -Yep. Artemis Entreri is a finger painting, as compared to Jarlaxle's Picasso. |
| Zanan12-27-07, 04:37 PM | I personally hope he writes more about Artemis Entreri, he's the best Realms character EVER. Either you're having a laugh here ... or don't know that many Realms novels. ;) |
| Phelf_Der_Zemit12-28-07, 12:35 PM | To each his own, my favorite charactor died in the WotSQ series, though most conspiricy theroist belive he'll make some sort of return as his finger went with that half-demon... |
| sn0wcrash12-29-07, 01:29 AM | For now RA Salvatore is dedicating his time to writing the next 2 Drizzt books, The Pirate King and The Ghost King. After that, who knows? He did said some time ago that one of his projects is to write a book about Jarlaxle and Zaknafein placed long before Drizzt was born. Now that would be a treat :D I would very much enjoy reading a Zaknafein story again... |
| The_Shaman12-29-07, 12:02 PM | I'm with you on that. I liked Zaknafein a lot more than Drizzt, and he was one of the highest-level warriors that I know of, so a book detailing his exploits can have alarming quantities of win. |
| MarkusTay6312-29-07, 12:41 PM | Suit yourself; I much prefer Jarlaxle.More then likely, a book with one WILL most certainly feature the other, even if they are seperated now. I would LOVE to see Drizzt and Artemis team-up sometime in the future - that was one of my favorite scenes of any of the Drizzt novels the last time they did so. I thought for a sec that Cattie-Brie was going to hook-up with Artemis there... he's got all of Drizzt's 'darkness' without all the whining (at least... he didn't back then...) In fact, if RAS wants to make me have a multiple (which I doubt he does), he should write a novel about the fall of Luskan, with Artemis showing up to help Cattie-Brie - he hated Drizzt, but he totally respected Cattie's abilities, and even admired her somewhat. Imagine a story where Entreri is the HERO, helping Wulfgar and company fight off the Aboleths(?) in Luskan, and Drizzt showing up too late to help his friends. Talk about irony and fate, eh? Don't forget, Artemis learned to 'love' (or at least, 'like'), and the very first person he felt something for was a Half-Orc! Mayhap he WILL involve himself with Obould's kingdom, afterall... |
| Khaelieth12-29-07, 05:49 PM | -Yep. Artemis Entreri is a finger painting, as compared to Jarlaxle's Picasso. Aye! Jar Jar is awesome! But I still like Artemis, but he's got a girl's name. |
| Phelf_Der_Zemit12-29-07, 05:58 PM | Aye! Jar Jar is awesome! But I still like Artemis, but he's got a girl's name. Named after the goddess of the hunt (even if she is a chick) sounds approperiate to me. |
| Kenzuki12-30-07, 06:54 AM | I like Jarlaxle more or less the same as Artemis but in a different way. I really, really enjoyed the Sellswords series. |
| Philalexandros12-30-07, 07:26 AM | I enjoy reading stories with Jarlaxle in them, but I enjoy reading about Entreri more. Call it silly, but it's because Jarlaxle is, more often than not, a "secret." You're never really privy to what he wants, intends to do, or really feels. Entreri, on the other hand, is an open book to the reader--and thus, in my eyes--more sympathetic. Having said that; as much as I may have been disappointed by the ending of "Road of the Patriarch" (and it varies by the reading), I consider Entreri a finished story. For better or for worse, RAS chose the closure that he did for him. His heart unlocked, Artemis Entreri nonetheless looks like he will be too much of a willing outsider to be introduced to new directions, paths, etc. Until he finally dies, I doubt he will ever be anything more than the participant in predictable situations--once someone realizes the once-greatest assassin of Calimport is in town, Artemis will inevitably be drawn into challenges, attempts on his life, and other episodes we're all too familiar with. A Zaknafein-Jarlaxle, on the other hand, may be very enjoyable. My only concern is that the author be tempted to reduce much of the characters' interaction to an echo of Ryld and Pharaun's relationship. |
| Kenzuki12-30-07, 08:12 AM | Won't Entreri outlive a normal human lifespan now that he's half shade or whatever? So isn't it possible he could be in the 100 years after the spellplague? |
| Lord Karsus12-30-07, 09:48 AM | Won't Entreri outlive a normal human lifespan now that he's half shade or whatever? So isn't it possible he could be in the 100 years after the spellplague? -Possibly. We just don't know what Entrei's infusion with the shadows has done to him. He's not a Shade, but he's not a Human. |
| Kenzuki12-30-07, 03:56 PM | Maybe they will do something good with him and/or Jarlaxle in the future. I sure hope they don't just let him go to waste, he's so much more interesting than Drizzt is personally. Edit: Found something cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMaKwYqCqZM&feature=related |

The dark, brooding hero and the dark, brooding anti-hero. |
| Phelf_Der_Zemit12-31-07, 12:47 AM | The young Zak and Jar? Sounds like a night out with a few frat boys. Pounding down a few drinks, slapping the closet priestess on the rear, and then running away giggling into the night. |
| companion_cube12-31-07, 04:31 AM | -Possibly. We just don't know what Entrei's infusion with the shadows has done to him. He's not a Shade, but he's not a Human. If they get really desperate they may reclassify him as Warforged to boost acceptance of 4E. |

Edit: And personally I wish Salvator would write a "Homeland" type book for Entreri as well. |
| Phelf_Der_Zemit12-31-07, 12:38 PM | Edit: And personally I wish Salvator would write a "Homeland" type book for Entreri as well. I think he thought he did that with the Artemis's triology, which explained alot about his past. I thought it did a good job of explaining it, but nothing will every be as fun to read as Homeland. |

Yeah but I ment like an actual story about his beginings not just some flashback episodes and such hehe. A young Artemis Entreri story would kickarse seriously. You could see him climb up the ladder until he becomes the deadly man we know of today. I might just be dreaming though, seems authors never write the sort of books that you hope they would. |
