| Dargoth07-01-03, 06:43 AM | Need a little help Im writing up a background for one of my players, a Cleric of Kelemvor. the game will take place in the Dalelands So im looking for a temple in that area The nearest I can find is a Shrine dedicated to Kelemvor in Skull crag a hamlet in the Storm Horn mountains (the towns in the western part of the range) and its a little to out of the way. Anyone know of another Temple/Shrine/Church dedicated to Kelemvor in either Cormyr/The Dalelands/ Sembia or even The Vast or Moonsea regions? |

Yes. By bizarre coincidence there happens to be a shrine or possibly even a temple to Kelemvor exactly where you want one!. It's your world and you can put one wherever you wish. |

| Will Brandiman07-01-03, 08:59 AM | I know. :D Seriously though, there is no way Wizards will ever describe the location of every shrine, temple or other place of worship of every god in the realms. If you're worried about it, just say that it's a new shrine dedicated to the memory of a local hero who recently passed on. |
| Derulbaskul07-01-03, 09:11 AM | I've been through my 2E sources as well and I can't find anything except for: Skullspire (Tulmon) The Darkness Passing (Calimport) The Sahalarka (Calimport) Tower of Skulls (Ormath) I even tried both (2E) the Ruins of Zhentil Keep and Spellbound but no luck. IMC, I've been thinking of having a small shrine to Kelemvor in the graveyard of practically every settlement. In and near the Dalelands, I think Hillsfar and Scardale are very likely to have shrines or even temples. |

| K.C.07-01-03, 02:03 PM | Don't worry too much about canon. Don't let it get in the way of telling a good story. It's not like the WOTC gestapo is going to come to your house and confiscate your FRCS because you aren't playing 'offical' FR. Use canon as the begining of your campaign world, don't let it cramp your style. |
| Tevren07-01-03, 02:24 PM | IMC, in the Silver Marches area, there's a canon town called Newfort that was established by some ex-Zhent soldiers. I made the town a bit bigger and made the leaders worshippers of Kelemvor. Granted, it's not in the Dalelands, but you could do something similar to any small town in that area of your campaign. |
| WotC Gestapo07-01-03, 03:38 PM | Dargoth, would you please give me your address so that I may come to your house and confiscate your Forgotten Realms material? It's not your game, it's our game and you are not allowed to use any material that does not comply with FR cannon. |
| Herr Doktor07-01-03, 10:28 PM | All right, some people need t' quit their flame-ridden jabbering and pay attention! He said he likes to know all the canon based info first so that he can build off of it. He didn't say "I use only canon info in my campaigns and keep a tight leash on my creativity. I only use published canon adventures! Nothing homebrewed! Heavens no! Canon lives!" So leave 'em alone unless yer gonna be helpful! ;) |

| cwslyclgh07-02-03, 01:39 AM | actually if you read my thread about a 3ed Prayers of the Faithful I suggest they do exactly that you do realize that difining the location of every temple or shrine in faerun, if not an impossible task, would at least be more then 1 book could handle... it would be like a book listing the adress of every church in Europe (all denominations and including other religions like islamic mosques and jewish synogogs as well).... it would take up at the very least several volumes the size of a phonebook for a good sized city. and that would be just listing the shrines and temples there would be no room for any new spells, etc. |

Smaller buildings like abbeys, shrines, and things of that sort are far more numerous than large scale temples. Also, you're saying that they could not fit, even in a 320 page book, a complete list of known temples/churches? There would be plenty of room for more. A more narrow listing may be more practical (only full scale temples, or only major cities, et cetera), but it certainly wouldn't be impossible to do it otherwise. |
| BobROE07-02-03, 02:33 AM | Ya, I have a typed list of all the named temples from all the stuff I own (all the 3E stuff, except adventures, and most of the latter 2E stuff [not the original stuff like dreams of red wizards and the like]) and it's only like 18/19 pages long. |

While there may be many Catholic churches in Paris there is only 1 temples to Bane in Zhentil Keep etc 20-40 pages tops most towns in the FR only have only have one church in a town and god X is considered the deity of the town |
| cwslyclgh07-02-03, 04:46 AM | most towns in the FR only have only have one church in a town and god X is considered the deity of the town I am not sure where you got that information... most cities in the FR have 1-3 major temples and a bunch of shrines... even shadowdale which is a small town has 3 major temples (lathander, Tymora, Chantea) and shrines to Tempus (2 of them) and Mystra... since you want them all listed you have to include the secret shrine to Lolth in the caves under the old skull and the druid grove north-west of town as well. |

Thats 5 lines of text for a town thats been heavily detailed |
