I was reading the Savage North (2e) today and it says ol' Blackstaff was born in 1302. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere else (maybe Return of the Archwizards) that he was close to 300. Is the book wrong or am I just crazy?

Khelben the Elder? He was born in 414 according to Cormanthor: Empire of the Elves. Remember there is also a Khelben the Younger who well in 2e he lived in Greyhawk and Khelben the Elder (who lives in Blackstaff tower) is still posing as Khelben the Younger.

Actually, I think Khelben was born in the 400's Dale Reckoning. He is nearly a thousand years old.

Yeah I'm rereading RotA and noticed Khelben is closer to 1000, but I had no idea about Khelben the Elder and Khelben the Younger. Are they related? Would someone mind expaining this for me?

The Lord Mage of Waterdeep is "the Elder," posing as his grandson born to Zelphar and Lhestyn Arunsun. Khelben the Younger (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Castle/2566/khelbenravencloak.htm) is actually on Oerth.

Hrm, any idea, Faraer, how much of that page you linked to was written by Eric L. Boyd, and how much was written by AJA (who is, I think, the webmaster of that Yet Another Forgotten Realms webpage)?

I think it's all Eric's, unless AJA's amended it. What I think is the same file is here (http://crpp0001.uqtr.uquebec.ca/www_wanderer/npc/Human/Khelben.Arunsun.html). The basic idea of Khelben the Younger and his being in the World Greyhawk is mentioned in FOR4 The Code of the Harpers, by the way, though the KtY writeup isn't 'official'.

I didn't know the exact sourcebook it was mentioned in (thanks for that) but I knew the basics of that were canon. It's a pity the rest of that file is non-canon, its quite good.

It is the same file, I'm pretty sure. Okay, that answers that question.
