| The Black Note11-28-04, 10:06 PM | Me an my party have just killed one of the sons of Many Arrows, in a ftortress south of Deadsnows. We burn the place after the kiling, but i cut the prince head and put in a bag, then i return to deadsnows and Lady Icespear doesnt know what to do with the evidence, and you know the conections between Many Arrows and the Assasins of Mask. So i need and advice for this trouble. should i burn the head? or incriminate the assasins? or ask for help of Silverymoon? or be prepared for war? I need help.... |
| BrianCritchley11-28-04, 10:32 PM | he's just a 9th level fighter, kick his butt! |
| Aznar Thrul11-28-04, 11:20 PM | not really hes lvl 9 in 3.0 but in 3.5 i dont know its real lvl but he is surely the chosen of grumsh and Many arrow is not stupid thats why hes still there trying to kill him is impossible, well if you got a bigger army than him ok but i dont think you have a bigger army, maybe silverymoon will help you |
| Cole Deschain11-29-04, 02:28 AM | I recommend poointing out to the cities of the North that they're going to have to deal with this yahoo sooner or later. Might as well just wax him now. |
| paradoxmage11-29-04, 02:51 AM | I would say get help. He is def not a 9th level fighter anymore. He has to be more. Plus he is chosen of grummsh. He has a good sized army at his call. Plus his magic armor and weapons are considerably powerful. He has been able to thwart the attacks of very good and higher level characters. I would avoid him at all costs. (If played correctly by your DM he should be a recurring bad guy) |
| Mirtek11-29-04, 02:11 PM | He is def not a 9th level fighter anymore. Why? Aside from the question whether he received a chosen of gruumsh template or not, 9th level is totally awesome. That's already the level of a legendary fighter. 9th level is much more than most people reach in their lifetime, the average army consists of 1st level warriors, with the most elite units being formed by 3rd level fighters, and these are the rare guys. You don't need to be epic or near-epic to be legendary |
| EmeraldFox11-29-04, 04:04 PM | You don't need to be epic or near-epic to be legendary But it certainly helps. For an NPC with such a reputation as Obould, level 9 just doesn't cut it. Other than that, he's a main villain and a warrior-type. What's a warrior-type main villain if he isn't overpowering? Not very scary is it? |
| Lady Rolindin11-29-04, 04:39 PM | There could be more here happening than you realize, your dm could have plans from somthing from the new Drizzed book maybe? If not then go to silvermoon or to one of the dwarf halls they would be glad to help you to take on the orc's. As Pual Moahdeb said I see plans within plans, this could be. Get help and don't try it your self as a group the Orc's will be able to talk to the dead and he could be sending a small army after he finds out get help to make sure your covered. |
| primemover00311-29-04, 06:29 PM | Or the DM could completely ignore whatever happens in the Novels and play Obould however they wish. |
| Chosen of the Dark Sun11-29-04, 06:47 PM | Or the DM could completely ignore whatever happens in the Novels and play Obould however they wish. Agreed. I prefer to play the novels as past history, or something else the PCs can't influence. |
| Ramius_Mordale11-30-04, 09:05 AM | If King Obould is played correctly it isn't a matter of if he will kill you its just a matter of when. You think too short term when you should be thinking more long term. Why should he kill you now, when he can manipulate you into doing his dirty work for him? If I were your DM I would make you a puppet doing his bidding unknowingly. Personally, the novels are back story if you know them, and anything that happened to them shouldn't be in your campaign unless it was incredibably huge that everyone knows this happened on this day of this hour stuff. Otherwise, it is just metagaming, so you don't know really how high of level he really is so play your character as such. :ahem: This guy is a King, A KING!, not some wannabe warlord that's a 9th level run of the mill fighter. He has seen combat, he is cunning, and he is legendary in western half of faerun. Plus he has an army at his command and I'm betting if your DM has the slightest bit of cunning, a few "High" level champions to do his dirty work if their too buff for him to take on with his army. Plus he has bodyguards, priests, and all that good stuff to call upon. Hey I'm not saying epic level isn't sweetness, but really you have been seriously up in the clouds too long when you say 9th is just kids play. I believe like the majority of Faerun's heros, are below the 10th level threshold. So to have a 9th level hero/villian is a big deal if you ask me. That means this guy after a long time of adventuring, for being a King, is 9th level. He is a contender if you ask me and on his way to being a powerhouse since he is barely knocking on middle age's doorstep. I haven't read the new Drizzt's books but from what I have read in the good ol' FRCS he is planning and preparing for a war here in a few years. I wouldn't count him as a small fry. Okay rant over. But my suggestion would be, to leave the North and don't return until you can take on assassins attacking you continuously. And I don't mean stupid ones, I mean assassins that set up plots within plots within plots before they kill you. Just to make sure you don't get out alive. Not trying to be a bruiser with ya, but facts facing facts, you shouldn't have even took down a prince easily, well not without a near total party kill. But hey I'm not one to use mainline NPCs in my campaign to avoid this issue. I wish you the best of luck, but as I said I don't think you got a prayer, so I say go out with as big of a bang as you can. -Ramius- |
| Khalon12-03-04, 08:37 AM | Get some 10th++ level rogue with Shadowdancer prc to deal with him... No problem. |
| Lady Rolindin12-03-04, 05:57 PM | I would go for help and the dwarfs or Silver Moon, once he finds out look for all kinds of trouble in the surrounding bounderies of the orc kings holdings. He is going to find out who did this or take it out on the twons and villages by his border. If you do frame the thiefs guild the orc king will kill everone in the town. He might not stop there, he might keep going and expand his terratory. Eithe way look for a nasty, reaction that will bring out his anger. Anyone cought in his orc's path will pay for killing his son, no matter if they did it or not. The dwarfs would help you if your closer to them than silver Moon go there first. The dwarfs do say that one dwarf is worth ten orcs in battle, this could cause a small war in the area what was done, the dwarfs will be gald to help ride the orc's of their lives and party afterwards. But get help! the orc's are comming for revenge! |

I hear that the weather in Tethyr is lovely this time of year... lol. You MAY have just set off the next orc hoard! Then again, remember the Obuald is CE. So, if his son was such a weakling as to get killed, then... too bad for him. It's really up to the DM, but I'd say with all the sources I've read slanting towards an orc hoard happening soon, I'd say THIS would be the catalyst. But don't feel bad about it, just have your character ready to do his part for the retribution that's sure to come. They will send a HUGE hoard down out of the spine, which from my calculations outnumbers Silverymoon's standing army by atleast 2 to 1, though it's lack of arcane spellcasters will hurt them. But that might be made up by it's alliance with those mobile seige engines known as GIANTS, frost specifically. I'd say this Silver Marches is in for a tough time here, very shortly. :gah: |

Obould, whatever level he is is dangerous. Let's face it, the King is a smart orc which is definitely more dangerous than an enhanced orc. Move to Thay or maybe Menzoberranzan, he wouldn't dare follow you there. |

Plus he has frost giants, trolls, and other creatures on his side (bog blokes for example) |
| flete104612-07-04, 06:57 PM | Of course, your DM might simply be going out of the Silver Marches sourcebook and not be worrying at all about what's happening in the latest Drizzit novels, which means no trolls, bog blokes or giants. Under those circumstances you might be facing anything. And if I were you I wouldn't count on Obould's army staying at just 2x the size of Silverymoon's. That's just his personal army, and doesn't include the other half a million orcs hanging out in the spine of the world. If he starts going, it'll turn into a really big snowball. |
| EmeraldFox12-07-04, 09:57 PM | And if I were you I wouldn't count on Obould's army staying at just 2x the size of Silverymoon's. Really? I thought Obould's army was something like 5,000. Where did you get this number? |
