06-30-03, 05:58 PM What Chondathan sound like, or at least, what accents do you guys use when your speaking in character? I wanted to give the commoners of the Heartlands stereotypical medieval british peasant accents, but I guess I should have read the Life in Faerun chapter, before Geography. I kinda just expected them to speak common. Thanks

06-30-03, 06:58 PM I've always thought that Cormyrians would sound British, the Ffolk of the Moonshaes Irish, and the Rashemi and Aglarondans as Eastern Europeans/Russian.

Maybe Chondathan is like Welsh, or Old english?

07-01-03, 02:45 PM I think the languages of the Lands of Intrigue would have a musical, flowing, liquid sound to them - reminscent of the Arab countries on Earth.

The accents of the North would be a little like Scandinavian accents, but Waterdeep would be different - probably a whole collection of accents.

I don't know why but I have always thought of the accents of Mulhorand as like those of the Indian subcontinent rather than Egypt.

07-01-03, 06:53 PM Most people I know would (and have) assumed Chondathan sounds Brittish (I think because of the whole knights and royalty in Cormyr where Chondathan is spoken, as well as in the lands surrounding it)...

However, there was an article in Dragon Magazine awhile back that gave more depth to the languages of the Forgotten Realms, and I was under the impression that Chondathan was more along the lines of French (and/or Spanish).
