Of all the characters you've ever played to high levels, what kind of legacy has been left behind? Generations of wizards? A whole new city built because of your stronghold's presence? New spells? New magic items? Fame and fortune?

Mine is most definitely the character I share my nick with. She's from back in 2nd Ed and was a Priestess of Selune. She built the most amazing temple, that I still have drilled into my brain, though the floorplans are somewhere on the other side of the ocean. The legacy that she and that party left was one of fame, fortune, and determination. They never backed down from any challenge, and when she finally retired, the stories to look back on were nothing short of epic. If I were to have a regret for her, it's that she was celibate and never continued her bloodlines.

Many many years ago, back in first edition days. (circa 1981)

I played a brownie (they don't exist anymore) assassin. The campaign was Greyhawk based. His name was Astin and he had an incredibly high charisma. Astin was able to become the grandfather of assassins. He was also an enterpeneur, he set up his base in the Plains of the Paynim and hired a few druids to help him build an opium empire. In no time he was very busy getting most of the Flannaes hooked on opium and buying a huge mercenary army to conquer a vast empire. By the time I was forced to retire him he had a 23 charimsa and he was richest man (brownie) in all Greyhawk.

One of my favorite experiences was going through Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits with a high level party. Astin met Lolth and they fell in love after he helped her kill the rest of the party. It was so romantic.

The stuff of fairy tales. I'm sure a 'Lolth Barbie' is somewhere in R&D.

Though your mention of the Brownie reminds me of Jada, my wingless pixie (tweaked down so it was 'fair' to the party in 2E), she was often introduced as the special needs elf. Her shining accomplishment was never having to take watch since she'd get bored, turn invis, and bang on a pot until some conceded to take over.

these are my favorite kind of memories. The quirky stuff.

HOLY BOB THIS SENTENCE CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT! (I don't know how to use blacking out.)
My old Incubus character raping his mother while cannibalizing her?

Um...

Building a throne out of her bones?

Creating a clone of his former love to kill her and take her place?

Taking over Broken Reach of Plane of Infinite Portals in the Abyss and becoming the Lord of Fetishes and Addictions?

Lycos Atreas, a powerful (19th level) human Cavalier of Chessentan origins. Exiled from his homeland out of political convenience following his House's overthrow, he ventured to the east and north, seeking his fortune in such as places as Raven's Bluff, Thay, Thesk, and Rashemen. He built an elite "mercenary" company that incorporated Chessentan elan with the lessons of warfare he took from Cormyrean heavy cavalry knights and War Wizards. Following the successful slaying of a wyrm and the taking of its hoard, he returned to conquer and unify Chessenta (except for Akanax, which was burnt, razed, and salted). The last time I played him (2+ years ago), he was busy transforming Chessenta's armies to match his vision (phalanxes of halberdiers in half-plate, longbowmen, and heavy cavalry). It is his dream to conquer Unther and Mulhorand, forging in the process the greatest empire in the central Realms.

Ultimately I got tired of playing him because he seemed more and more a copy of Alexander the Great.
