Okay, so I'm about to start a solo game with these two games and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to link the two adventures (Red Hand first, then City of the Spider Queen)? Any help would be appreciated.

And yes, I know there not supposed to played solo but my gaming group is all crazy cause of weddings and renovating a house so it's just me and my roommate.

Give them some time Renvale, most(on this side of the clod anyway) are still snoozin. I'll ask my resident Co-DM for ideas, she does all the cross-over work.;)

Things kinda busy here. Don't have access to adventure materials at the moment, just core books. Anybody else out there lend a hand por favor?:)

I must say this is a tough one. I'm trying to figure out a reason to link the drow to the hobgoblins. Perhaps the drow are using the hobgobbies to create some pandemonium in the world above for some reason. Tough

Change all the hobgoblins into drow ?
An invasion of spider*something* templated drow invades and climax adventure into the City of the Spider Queen ?

Sounds like a Dalelands adventure.....

if you played RHD as suggested in Misty Vale , let the group rest than receive a call for help from the dambrathi crinti or the great rift dwarfs. why? now thats a good question...some portal opened and undead are coming out of it, the crinti/dwarfs are looking for some small strike force who can investigate it.

I think the only link that I can think of would be to have them run in the same geographical location. RHoD is a plot run by a gathering of Tiamat's followers and focusses heavily on new sorts of dragon crossbreeds. CotSQ is a drow-heavy plot and ties into Lolth's recent vacation from dealing with her followers.

Both are good modules - but I just don't see any way to link the plots without seriously breaking and re-writting one (or both) of them.

That being said, you could run both modules in the same region of the Realms. The easiest way would be to move CotSQ down to the region of the Shar that was recommended for using RHoD in the Realms. Since so little of the acition of Spider Queen takes place above ground, all you'd really need to do is just re-mane a few of the underdark cities and it might work with almost no other adjustments.

Thanks for all the great replies guys.

I think I figured it out though.

Irae agrees to help the Red Hand with funds(not a far stretch) if the Red Hand agree to give her the bodies from the impending war (mostly the enemie bodies) for her Great Reverance spell??

Whatcha think?

Red Hand of Doom was the name Calvin (as in Calvin & Hobbes) came up for their secret club. Though it might have been Black Hand of Doom.

I guess it will work. In fact, it's not a bad idea if you set it up right during the mid and later parts of the RHoD adventure.

You'll probably want to establish a couple of encounters that indicate that the Red Hand are collecting and carting the slain (both thier own troops and those of the humans in the Vale) off to an undisclosed location. Whole wagon trains of corpses are collected and headed away from the battle by dark, cloaked figures.

The enemy (mix of drow and RHoD troops) should probably take the bodies across the river and into the mountains on the western edge of the map (soory for the lack of a proper name, but I don't have the book in front of me).

The evacuation/sale of bodies to elsewhere could also explain why there are so few undead assault troops in the Red Hand forces themselves.

Let us know how it goes.
