We're seeking the right player to fill the sixth slot of a serious, long-term, D&D 3.5 campaign that is approaching its 1-year anniversary. We are extremely selective in choosing players; we're looking for someone who's on our wavelength, shares our approach to gaming as a collaborative story, and whose personality will mesh well with our existing group. If we don't find the right person, we won't add anyone.

We play "live" using the free software program, OpenRPG (www.openrpg.com), every Sunday from 3 to 7pm CST. Between ORPG sessions, we play by post on our forums. There is both a Roleplay board for interaction with other characters and a Reflections board for in-character thoughts, journals, dreams, etc.

A few quick, additional notes:

The campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms. There are some adult themes. This is a roleplay-heavy game centered around characters who are very human in their motivations and who have turned toward the darker side of existence, to varying degrees. If you're looking to play the knight in shining armor, look elsewhere. By the same token, if you're looking to play a sociopathic, heartless, back-stabbing fiend, this isn't for you, either. Advancement is slow by many standards and is based on participation (including amount of posting) and roleplaying, not monster-slaying. Power gamers need not apply.

If you:

1) like to write;
2) have the time to attend each Sunday session *and* check/post on the forums daily;
3) are reliable, mature, communicative, easy-going, devoted to making a 3-dimensional character, and looking to participate in a collaborative story;

...then take a look at the website for our game, www.somnium.org, paying particular attention to the forums. Then, if you're still interested, email me at webmaster(at)somnium.org and tell me about yourself, why our game appeals to you, and why you'd make a good addition.

I have read over most of your chat logs and I must say im very impressed by the story line so far and the depth of your characters and NPCs. This is the kind of game I strive to run and wish I could play. Alas the day you run the game on Open RPG I am at work 4pm till 12 midnight Est.

I highly commend the DM and Players and recommend anyone interested in a good tale being spun as time progresses please look at the Website for this campaign!

Well met Chimerical,
I was looking at the local notice board at the Gentle Mermaid, and lo and behold I came across your note. It stood out from the other notes, as for once the call did not go out for saints nor sinners, but for those of us whose lives cannot easily be described. I hope that you find the one that you seek, someone to enrich your existance in the realms.

Light Laughter and sweet water until next,

Sariss Eldariss.

P.S. The difference between a hero and a villian is who tells their tale.

Thank you both for the kind words. The DM puts a great deal of work into the campaign, and we've tried to assemble a good group of players who contribute as well. We hope that the player we add will benefit the campaign as a whole.

Realms Walker, too bad about the timing. Drop me an email if your schedule ever changes!

We're still taking applications. We hope to decide in the next week or so.
