Can anybody simplify a search for me? One of the PCs in my game is in training for "Gnome Artificer", and he asked me which books he should look in for additional info about Alchemy.
If anybody knows of a random sourcebook with info on the subject, and would be so kind, just post a title and page number at your convenience.

try the 2e- accessory "sages and specialists". it has some rules concerning producing alchemistic (sp?) things, handling chances of success and so on.

and there was an alchemy- related article in dragon #301, p.52 ("from field to cauldron") that deals with alch. products made of natural ingredients.

i remember reading something about alchemy in some 3e- rulebook but i fail to recall where it is...

Bastion Press published a book titled Alchemy & Hebalists. I own it, and it has been a great deal of help for me.

Ah. I've meant to look at Alchemy & Herbalists because it's by the great Realms scribe Steven Schend, but have had too many other books to read. Thursby, could you tell us how generally Realms-compatible you find the work to be?

The Everquest PHB or DMG has a great section on Alchemy and rules for it also. There is also a section on Tinkering, which might be useful.

I have had no problems with it. The book tends to be more usefull in areas that nature plays a more important role then magic, such as Chult.
