| Phoebus07-09-04, 05:22 PM | So my question is, if the Forgotten Realms is a high magic setting, and the new Eberron campaign is a SUPER high magic setting, are there any low magic settings out there that are worth purchasing? I know Greyhawk might be considered a low magic setting, but I was looking for something different, something like Game of Thrones, etc. Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations? I apologize if this is not the correct location for this post. Thanks for the help! |

So much of the rules and challenge ratings assume a certain level of magic. I think there is a Conan system that is lower magic. |

As for really low magic.. Ravenloft? |

One of the campaigns I'm currently running takes place in Thesk/Great Dale and surroundings, and I have set the magic-level to really low. It works just fine, all you need to do is adjust some monsters, so that fights don't become too hard to win. It's hard to deal any damage to a creature with DR #/magic if all you got is a masterwork weapon and no Strength enhancing items, for example. |

| Lashan07-11-04, 10:35 AM | The FR started out as a low magic setting. I've continued it this way and don't believe the hype about it being a high magic setting. |
