... Unless some sneaky sourcebook writer, like Eric or Ed (.. George? ;)), well, sneaks some tidbits in here and there.

Thank you allThe only *official* lore we have on the Manshoon Wars exists in Cloak & Dagger. However, Steven's managed to provide a series of useful replies about his thoughts on the event itself, over at Candlekeep.

And the details we have of the return of Bane are in the FRCS.

'Tis a shame about the Manshoon Wars though, as I've long said both here and at Candlekeep. Steven had such great plans. :(

08-18-06, 02:46 AM personally I think an EXCELLENT idea for WOTC to explore would be the concept of a "heros and villans" series of novels for FR (IIRC they did something similer for dragonlance) where basicly they take several of the most ICONIC heros and villans in faerun and do a novel about em, that basicly explores their past. maybe do it a bit like how Evermeet:a novel and Cormyr: a novel where done.

I mean from a busniess POV it'd be a great idea as let's face it, it'd proably sell really well, who wou;dn't be intrested in learning the back story of Manshoon, Fzoul Chambryl, Sazz Tam, and other major characters. (not sure which heros would be the ideal ones..)

08-18-06, 09:04 AM given the basic guidelines (good more or less triumphs in the end) it would probably have to be done as a series of vignettes from the point of view of mystra's chosen. As they deal with them in the here and now we get memories from different chosen showing both interactions and the results of scrying work as they follow the careers of these villains and use them to further mystra's will.
hrmmmm could some of this be covered in that book/story ED was hinting about wiht his line at Gencon about Elminster's big mistake? :P :D

I dunno good doesn't have to triumph in the end, just have the novel take the villan up to the current period in the time line etc. not need for evil to win or lose.

08-19-06, 11:27 AM well the novel would have to have some sort of resolution/climax and if its following the interactions then something is going on between the chosen and the villains. Given that then its sort of required that some plot of one or more of them is foiled at the least. I do agree that its not needed for any of them to be killed off or even made to look like the idiots they were often made to look like before. Its been prettywell established that the chosen are deeper plotters than most of the villains so the villains can be made strong, smart and evil and still have their plans be foiled by the chosen and their agents without doing the villains an injustice in portrayal - perhaps even showing some minor successes and/or hints of ongoing plots for the future.
