| Captain_Impulse08-05-07, 02:41 AM | Anyone know where I can find a map of Thay online somewhere? I don't have my Unapproachable East book handy and I'm working on my campaign. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
| Fillow08-05-07, 01:36 PM | is it what you search ? : http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/UEMaps/UAm7_72dpi.jpg it is a mute one ! |
| Captain_Impulse08-05-07, 09:10 PM | Almost. I keep encountering that map but I'm really looking for one with the place names on it. Thanks though. |
| Fabius Maximus08-06-07, 07:14 AM | The old sourcebooks Spellbound and Dreams of the Red Wizards should have what you are seeking. |
| Fillow08-06-07, 07:15 AM | and what about this French one ? : http://carte.royaumesoublies.com/ it's in French language but sizable ! |
| The Simbul08-06-07, 04:07 PM | You can download the main Forgotten Realms campaign map and then focus in on Thay, however it only notes cities/sites of exceptional importance, and many of the smaller cities, fortifications, roads, and similar notations in Unapproachable East are omitted. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20060607a |
| MarkusTay6308-06-07, 04:08 PM | You can download that map HERE. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20060607a) I believe what the OP really wants, and needs, is the VERY detailed map of Thay in Unapproachable East. EDIT: Simbul beat me to it with the link. ;) |
| Captain_Impulse08-06-07, 10:11 PM | Yeah, well I am looking for a copy of the detailed one in the Unapproachable East, but I'm going to have to do without. I can't exactly take the Unapproachable East book to work, so I'll have to make do with the less detailed one. Thanks though, everyone. |
| Wanzerfan08-07-07, 12:28 PM | If you're looking for a map of the distinct regions of Thay, there's one on page 206 of the Fogotten Realms campaign book 2nd. printing. |
| Captain_Impulse08-07-07, 10:10 PM | As I explained above, I was looking for one online. I have a map in my Unapproachable East book, but I can't take that book to work, which is why I need an online version. |
| MarkusTay6308-13-07, 12:02 AM | Ask and yea shall receive - Map of Thay 2.0 (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/62160074/) Note: This is MY Thay. All locations are canon - I have made some minor changes to geography to have things fit better with older maps. All the roads are canon as well, except for the 'dotted line' leading from the mountains to Beacon Cairn. It just seemed kind of strange to me for the trail to just end at the mountains, so I made a path to where I think the Thayans would be most interested in going. I also moved High Thay more toward the center, as it should be. The only two Tharchs not named in Red are Alaor and Surthay, since both are rather small and are already named by there single location. A black dot is a settlement, a circle a small city, a circle with a dot a large city, and two circles with a dot (the bullseye looking thing) is a metropolis. The circle with the square in it (Glarondar) is a fortified city. The thing that looks like a wall is just that - All other map symbols conform to the official FR maps. I made sure to size it to print out on a single 8½x11 sheet of paper. Non-Canon Campaign Information: I made Thazalhar MUCH bigger, because I feel it was a nation at one time. Some of the Horde sources refer to it as a seperate country from Thay, so I have reasoned that at one time it was. It was probably one of those "Imaskari Survivor-States", that for a short time after the fall was autonomous. Like Merghôm and Semphar, it quickly became part of Mulhorand. During the war between Thay and Mulhorand the entire region was devastated, and most of the population either fled or were wiped out. Now the Tharch of Thazalhar is just a small piece of a kingdom that once went from the plateau of Thay to Mulhorand, and encompassed the High Valley and the Ganatwood. The only thing remaining is it's capitol - the independent city of Sultim. Also, I think it would be more flavorful if the inhabitants were Turami - it fits the canon and adds another dynamic. Enjoy - Mark |
