I just got the Player's Guide to Faerūn (:D) and on the timeline it makes no mention of when the Shadovar began melting the High Ice and because of that when the unnatural weather should've begun to hit Faerūn.

I remember in the novels quite a bit of mention about the horrible weather as the force from Waterdeep marched to the aid of Evereska, and the crops dying all over Cormyr (would this same sort of thing happen in the Dalelands?).

If you've any idea of when exactly that began, or suggestions as to what effect this specifically has on the various regions of the Heartlands, please share.

I seem to recall they used the karse Stone to create the Black blankets they where using you to melt the high Ice as Shade Enclave has lost the Karse stone they are unable to create anymore Black Blankets which stops them from melting the high ice

Black Blanket, Karse stone, its all novel stuff, in game tearms it would be a Mavin's Worldweave, and they could cast it again with normal epic magic rule.. It would have a high DC, since it's a 11 level spell, and I bet the Karse stone was a great malignent factor, but nothing more then that.

I'd go with 1372...... Since that part of the story for 3e took part mostly in 1372..... What month. I have no idea. :)

Anyway, the question isn't if it is stopped now (which it is) but when they began melting the High Ice and what effects it had on the various regions of the Heartlands. How long would it really take for the weather to recover?

Also, wasn't it Shar that caught the Karse stone after it fell from Shade? Isn't she practically the matron of the Shadovar? Why would she take the stone away from potential allies?

That question is answered at the end of the last ROTA book

Actually the Player's Guide does say when they started to melt the High Ice..... Around Mirtul 21st...... It's on that small time line that's in that chapter.

That's only the date when Galaeron comes to Cormyr, not when they began, I imagine they'd been doing it before that time or the ill effects would not be taking place.

Well it had to be either spring or summer since there are crops being grown. So again I say it's around that date that's mentioned in the timeline.....

Shrug.

If I recall right they were using magic as well, so that could have sped it up.......

Couple cows drowned, couple farmers lost their crops, couple villages swiped, no big deal.

As a whole, the "terrible floods" described in the novels lasted no more than a month (maybe the rains laster longer, but the floods, I don't think so).

The gooddy-two-shoes of the Realms stopped the melting, and everything went back to normal in a matter of weeks.

The only permanent effect of those rains is described in FRCS p.99, under "The Shadow Sea."

Did they stat Galaeron? I imagine he's a Shade Adept/Sorc of sorts. He may be in the FrCS though, but I don't remember. Was he in dragon?

Galaeron was in Dragon #281 -- he was statted as a Fighter7/Sorcerer 8, but Shadow Weave Magic isn't in his list of feats, and given that the article was written relative to The Summoning, I'd guess those stats are for before he started using Shadow Weave magic.

Also, shouldn't he have the Everaskan Tomb Guard PRC?

Which means that once more, a NPC will be re-written with new stats, and people will complain about it...

As long as they don't waste page space on it in some future "Unapproachable Races of Shadow Magic in Faerun" book who cares.
