No, Mentor Wintercloak was a separate person. Page 143 of Cormanthor: Empire of Elves lists him as one of the tertiary casters, along with Elminster and several others. Mentor is listed as 'the long-hidden human wizard ally of lady Herald "Alais" Dree'. The Lady Dree was another of the tertiary casters. I don't know if he was described anywhere... You could always try whichever Elminster book had him in Myth Drannor; as I recall, the raising of the Mythal is described in there.
