| mesaratz03-07-05, 09:50 AM | My party are just coming to the end of Expedition to the barrier peaks (which we are all having fun with!!) BUT Next they will be doing the `G’ series and then on to queen of spiders etc….. The question I have is …… Will the blasters that they have at the end of the Expedition to the barrier peaks work once they get down to the abyss (that is if they don’t use up all the charges!), as I fear it will undermined the game. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this |

I guess it depends on the DM of course but the lore of FR said that earth based types of weapons or equipment doesn't work on Faerun, which is why smokepowder is magical and its not gunpowder. :) Ed wanted that, I believe, because he's, at times, sent his PC's to Earth. :) At least the D&D version of Earth. |

Ah yes. Elminster spying on two young girls swimming. I remeber that post well...Dirty old man Elminster is...  |

If you fear that they will unbalance the game, just say that it doesn't work on the other plane of existance. It will make the adventure a challenge and more interesting. If you want to do something funky, you can always have each function of the weapons take up extra charges from it. Don't tell them about it for a bit until they notice that the power level has gone down. You can blame it on the planar physics or something. This is a good way to get rid of these powerful weapons. |

And be torn to shreads while you (the players) are in The Abyss(/Demonweb Pits) :D But just by levels alone, it doesn't seem that the party will live terribly long in The Abyss. Just for it being The Abyss and such. |
| mesaratz03-08-05, 02:10 AM | This is true and i have told them as much, and they was given the choice of another quest but ther drew of the abyss is too much for them LOL. |
| Slime Lord03-08-05, 07:53 AM | I'd talk them out of it or make it so they visit the Abyss for a VERY short time... |
| mesaratz03-08-05, 09:33 AM | I did give them plenty of choice, as there was lots of other holiday destinations to choose from :D :D :D |
| ClobberinTime03-08-05, 11:25 AM | If I remember correctly from back in the old days, those blasters and things have a % to break every time they use them. So it was unlikely they would make it out of even that adventure. |
| Slime Lord03-08-05, 12:18 PM | I don't know still..I'd say take them to a better place than the Abyss unless they all wish to create new characters again and begin again... |
