Tell me what you think of this Half-Blue Dragon build: Hexblade 14/Wizard 1/Spellsword 10/Eldritch Knight 10/Havoc Mage 5...

There a REASON twenty people looked in here and didn't respond?

Most likely, because it's nothing but a list of numbers and mechanics with an obscene level number in the end, with no actual characterization upon which to give our opinions. :)

why havoc mage BEFORE even considering archmage? (allright, beside the fact that i don`t know what a havoc mage is or where that class is printed :whatsthis )

what do you think about adding some barbarian levels and completing 10 levels of rage mage (CW page 72) ;) would fit it great IMO :D (yes, i don`t like the eldritch knight) you`ll get epic spellcasting soon enough :teach:

what kind of campaigns do some people run? thats like ECL 40 with all that added up, I've been running V3 for 2 yrs now and we just got our first epic level character, and thats like Class level 21

sorry, but it is ... horrible :)
i am playing D&D for 18 years now. we start at 1st level and play for years and only then we reach Level 15 or so.
what is so interesting to play level 30-40 characters ? what kind of adventures are you playing ? kill avatars and gods ? jump to the outer planes and kill every fiend you find there ?
what I and my players always wanted to know: do you start with Level 40 or what ? or is the DM so generous with his XPs that after every gaming session the heroes are advancing 1 or more levels ??? please tell me.
is seems that D&D is no more than Races + Classes + Prestige Classes + Levels.
sometimes, i wish me back to the 2nd edition ;) without my 1100 feats listed to choose from and 600 prestige classes, one more powerful or strange than the other. arghhhh
puh .... sorry, but this must be said. now i am free to write on and send my players to free the North from Aurilīs icy grip

You should probably post this on the epic thread in the general section, you are likely to get a better response there.

I suppose, 'cause apparently the campaigns talked about here all stink...

Heya,

I suppose, 'cause apparently the campaigns talked about here all suck ass...

Sun, the reaction you got is because some people just don't like the style of a "stupidly" high level campaign, and they weren't being polite about expressing their opinions. Personally, I like playing uber powerful characters from time to time, and those adventures have included way more than killing the avatars of gods (let me tell you, our behind would have been handed to our characters if we tried, because usually everything else in the game got a power boost to compensate the power level of the PCs).

As far as your build goes, I can't really make a comment on it. You have classes in there I haven't got the stats on right now. :)

I've played AD&D/D&D for 11 years, myself, and I DO like playing a stupidly high PC now and then, and I have a few that I use (mostly in online RP), but half the time they don't even have stats. That's because, at that level of power, there's no use in statting PCs. It's more fun to just go with the flow with some general stats as guidelines.

The point is, how are we supposed to give our opinions on a bunch of numbers?

If I gave you an algebra equation and asked, "What is your opinion?" what would you say?

I wouldn't have such an initial negative reaction to the obscenely long list of stats (mind you, I have a character that is an Abyssal Lord now..) if you had actually given something about your character to chew on. How did he get that powerful? What did he do? What were his accomplishments? Who were his friends? Who were his lovers? Who were his enemies? What are his goals? What's his favorite drink?

That's the kind of stuff that makes RPG characters. Stats make video games.

Buildin' high level characters from the start is kinda lame. That is the build I wish to acheive, and then some (Wild Mage, finish Hexblade, Archmage, etc.). The campaigns that suck are the ones that concentrate too much on character development. I appreciate a campaign that allows me to express myself through action (fighting, puzzle-solving, treasure, etc.).

I knew you were talkin' about character development in yer first post, Dan. Not what I meant by build. I would try to solve yer equation, tell you how difficult is was and ask what's it about. MAYBE. Are you REALLY interested in my character?

Sure, but this is the Forgotten Realms General board. You posted a character build without any FR-specific PrCs or background and asked readers in an FR-specific board to discuss/critique/asses him/her. So, again, why here, given that you don't care about FR-specific character development, background, flavor, etc.

Let's not even get into the unwarranted, troll-worthy comments you made...
Sun Krigo

Damn that's a good one. But nonetheless, this is a better location than that other section and I'm startin' to wonder how this build would affect a Half-Shadow Dragon rather than a Blue. Why're you hung up on this anyway? Mind y'own business...

Mind my own business?

How about this: you posted on a public message board, one that anyone is free to use to express their opinion, so long as they don't violate the terms of service associated with it.

How about this? Post something that's related to the Forgotten Realms, and try not to troll while you're at it. You'd get the feedback you want, and you wouldn't have to worry about criticism directed toward your attitude.

I would be, perhaps, if you told me about the actual character and not the numbers behind the character.

That being said, you said that you would solve the equation. Okay, let's go with that. Given your character build, what answer do you want us to achieve and express to you using the given mathematics? Since that's all we have to go off of (numbers), obviously you want us to give you numerical feedback.

"Perhaps" ain't good enough, I need a yes or no. And assuming you have a brain, you'd take it upon yerself to look up these levels and do some addition. Or not respond because you've never heard of that class or have access to its description.

Shadow Dragons have a breath weapon that has an energy drain effect. As they age, it increases how many levels it takes and the DC to save against it: 1(14), 1(16), 1(18), 2(20), 2(22), 3(24), 4(26), 5(29), 5(32), 6(34), 7(37), 8(39). What would a Half-Shadow Dragon receive?

Dude, really now. If you keep going after Dan and others here, we aint going to help you. And if you keep going after Dan (a known member of this board, very known) and others, you'll have The Abyss, Nine Hells and a few Avatars on your ass. :)

Where are the Wiz_O's when you need them?

If you are playing a Mony Haul campaign that can include such powerful characters, then, to be honest the class levels start not to matter. The advantage of having prestige classes is to have lots of special abilities to play with and something to base a character around. What niche in the party are you wanting to fill? What are the other characters? Do you have a specific story/plot/dungeon your DM is going to put you in?

If you can answer these sorts of questions then we can help...

If you want us to give you advice on how the classes add up, then the answer is = 43 (character levels + template adjustment) oh, shame, you just missed out on the magical 42! You would have had all your answers then...

Insulting people isn't the way to get them to actually meaningfully respond to you.

I guess I'll go continue my work on the Schrodinger Equation in 3-Dimensional Polar Coordinates now, with my lack of brain and all.

You may have found a better response if ya posted the stats and gave a little background to your PC. Otherwise you should place this on the optimization board. They will Min/max your guy to Uberness. Seriously. That is what that board is about. Making your PC the best it can be. This board is for discussing FR general info.

Shouldn't you be raiding MC with your guild now anyway? ;)

This is going no where but down hill, so I'm closing it. It's off topic, it's inflammatory...it's done with.

Note (since this came up recently): Garnering opinions on a character is not inherently off topic for this forum, as presumably one would be posting with the intent to play the character in an FR setting. It became off topic, when it went no where near that direction.

Further, no matter where you post any thing, being respectful to your fellow posters is key. Baiting is not acceptable in any forum.
