| Slime Lord10-27-05, 10:23 PM | What should my first book be to learn how to play Realms? I have some money and I might consider getting it this weekend :) |
| Kaladon777910-27-05, 11:22 PM | I'd probaby start with Players Handbook, I find it's easier to learn by starting with making character and looking up with each stat and ability does, |
| Kuje3110-27-05, 11:58 PM | The Forgotten Realms Campaign Sourcebook.... :) Other then that, you'll get many different answers. |
| Old Sage10-28-05, 12:12 AM | The Forgotten Realms Campaign Sourcebook.... :)I'd agree with that. And if you've got a little extra, and are keen on learning about the 3.5e rules set for FR, then I'd also add Player's Guide to Faerun. Plus, it updates some setting details from the original 3e FRCS. Another suggestion, why don't you spend a few extra dollars on the lore-filled tomes of 2e FR -- PDFs are cheap, and most hard-copy online distributors can offer second hand books at good prices? |

I hate PDF's lol. They jut don't have that feel, but I could do that. So, Forgotten Realm Campaign Sourcebook and Players Guide to Faerun. That's all I need to start learning how to play DnD? |
| Old Sage10-28-05, 09:53 AM | Not necessarily. The 3.5e Player's Handbook sets the basics for character creation and the 3.5e Dungeon Master's Guide has the details for setting up and running campaigns. The FRCS and Player's Guide to Faerun simply gives you the tools needed to give your generated characters (using the Player's Handbook) a Realms flavour. Alternatively, you could just download the D&D SRD (or System Reference Document). That includes a trimmed version of the character creation details from the Player's Handbook. | Old Sage10-28-05, 12:04 PM | You've got it ;). Of course, as I said earlier, you might want to look at the SRD first. It might already have what you need. |
| Majorafire7710-28-05, 04:17 PM | Check out the Eberron Campaign Setting as well though, as you might find that you like it better than the Forgotten Realms one (and as an added bonus it doesn't require a 3.5 update). |

NEVER! *Throws Pink Putty towards you* My first DnD book was a Forgotten Realms book in which I knew nothing about this place, The Nether Scroll actually and that got me into Realms. I refuse to leave it! *Throws more* And I need alot Sage;) LOL. But, alas it has happened. I ran out of funds yesterday to get even one of the books. But that's ok...I need winter clothing moreso than Sourcebooks and Novels lol. That, and now my 92'Exploder is needing some Gas-Related objects replaced. I be working at a house though fora neighbour, and have a handful of jobs with week. 10.00 = MONEY FOR ME! (Note: It's cash *Evil Grin* ) |
