Here's the story. I had a half-elf wizard. He died in a fight with a pack of trolls. I had another wizard in the part reincarnate him and he ended up a kobold. For purpose of story what should i do? Keep reincarnating him till i get something better or just leave him as is?

Thats horrible, a kobold. You'd be outcasted by your own people and kobolds (A spellbook? Your a witch! Bad Kobold!).

I'm not sure what to say, the one time we used reincarnate, we turned a Human into... a Human.

Maybe check with your DM, could be easly made into useful plot device for a quest to be remade into a hald-elf or into something else.

I'd say run with it, imbrace your inner kobold.

Eather that or seek out a wish

yah but its kinda annoying to get questioned by town folk and not be able to negotiate with the poeple of waterdeep and such or just not be allowed to go into a town at all.

Could have been worse, you could have came back as an Orc or Ogre...

Take it upon yourself to gloriously proof the populace of Waterdeep that not all kobold's are evil! There are enough examples of "monstrous" humanoids walking the streets of Waterdeep. You could allways use disguises if all else fails. But try to prove their judgement of kobolds in general wrong. Just a quest/campaign idea. Good luck!

I say pony up the cash for a wish or miracle, that or use an illusion to hide your identity. Just watch out for dispel magic!

Go for wish man. Either that or get killed which may happen sooner than later.

I thought that reincarnate was just a druid spell.

Well, in any case, don't feel bad. At least you have Deekin, the Drizzt of kobolds, to pave the way for you in Waterdeep.

Oh yeah forgot about Deeking maybe that would be a good place to get some reputation and guidelines for getting a good kobold reputation.

Do what makes the most sense to the campaign, but, hey isn't the idea of roleplaying doing whatdoesn't always make sense. I enjoy playing odd combinations...one of my favorites a gray elf thief and a dwarven sorcorer. Ya know enjoy the variety of D&D.

1. Carry a letter of introduction from some well-known druid. Might not help, but hey. It's worth a shot.

2. You're a wizard. Cast alter self, change self, etc., to make yourself look more acceptable (gnome or halfling, for example). People who can see through the illusion should be a bit more knowledgeable in the ways of the world.

3. Might be more trouble than it's worth, but find somebody noteworthy to be your advocate and join the City Guard. People might want to hassle a kobold wandering the streets of Waterdeep, but not one wearing a City Guard's tabard.

4. You are now the best elven spy in, like, ever. True Sight doesn't see through this. A Spot check at +2 billion can't see through this. You're a kobold, and outside of right-thinking stuffy types in human cities, nobody much cares about kobolds, so outside Waterdeep, and particularly in the wild, you are going to be very overlooked.

good points, but City guard? Absolutely not. Don't think they'd let me. And I don't like being tied down. The elven spy thing was nice. Any more suggestions are welcome. :D

not necessarily a good idea.
1. he may not like kobolds himself. a self-hating kobolds would be pretty depressed.
2. if successful in provign not all kobolds are evil, the populace may trust other kobolds. when their evil nature is apparent, they will turn on the one who got them to trust other kobolds.
3. also, if successful, the populace may accept him but never truts him. he may be watched at all times and any little mistep may be misinterpreted, landing him right in the dungeon!

Another idea: there are transformation rituals rules in Savage Species. it may be possible for you to convince your DM to allow you to persue this avenue to become a half-elf or other race. you might need to research and could lead to other adventures to gather knowledge and resources to initiate the transformation.

you might also, if your not high enough level, have to find someon eelse to perform the ritual for you. that could also be an adventure, either finding such a being or convincing him to this this thing.

stay out of major cities, become like an irishman... walk around with a chip on your shoulder and mercilessly beat people who speak poorly of you =)

Three words for you; run with it.

If you play it right, your GM will make you change into something else, sooner or later, for his own sanity. My group did a mini-game once where we were all Kobolds (called the party "The Korogs." Don't ask.) and within one session, we broke the GM!!! That's right, the hampster on the wheel in his head had an aneurism and died!

He's vowed never to let us play the characters again. :w00t:

So, don't look on it as punishment. Look on it as possible revenge. :angelhide

Sweet water to you.

It's always the samn damn thing in my campaigns 'hey DM, can I have a wizard half elf get killed then reincarnated as....uhh....a Kobold! Ya! How sweet is that? what's the ECL on that?' people, it's getting old.
You should count yourself lucky, some people can only dream of being in your situation.

ryat, Twinkle is a bad name for a sword.

Why not settle and head to Skullport. They don't care what you look like there, just so long as your coin is good.

Face it, your wizard now has an aditional +2 to AC.

If your CON score is 13 your DM may allow you to take the Improved Natural Armor feat.
Stat wise, it's not bad.

Role playing wise, it could open up some very interedting posibilities.
(ever feel like takeing over a kobold tribe? just brush up on your draconic)

It's gonna be hard starting off. I'm a lvl 3 wiz kobold. So i def will get picked on. Any ways to prevent or counter this?

I say go with it!!

I had a character once (Elven Sor.) that died at 2nd lvl. A higher lvl druid that we had helped out reincarnated me and wouldn't you know it I ended up a kobald. Needless to say I wasn't happy at the time. The party $%$# with me constently and I was never allowed in town. So I ended up going back to the druid to see if he could change me back, instead he tought me in the way's of the druidic traditions.

Time went by and I learned to hide in a saddle bag during trips and sneak into town at night.
anyway, I became a chosen of Ehlanna and became a diplomatic go between for Elves and kobalds. Eventual I settled some disputes between the two races (23 lvl and several yrs. later) to the point they could work together.

The truth is this character was the best roleplaying experince of my life. Just play the character for roleplaying not rollplaying.

Remeber that you will grow more powerful. And when you do you could Force the gaurds to let you in town. you could Create a spell that removes ones mouth (like in the matrix) same rules as silence perhaps, that should keep others from bad mouthing you.

My best advice: Be creative and have fun !!!

Races of the Dragon has some neat stuff for kobolds, from a rules point of view.

Yes, you will be picked on, but who cares?

Best bet is to join the Magist and protectorate guild, or seek out a powerful wizard living in waterdeep to "apprentice" yourself to.

You already have a few levels of wizard, so you can possibly convince the "teacher" to forgo the menial tasks (washing cloths and dishes, sweeping up, etc) and offer your services to do other tasks such as searching / recovering spell components. (adventure hooks).

You will still get picked on, but when it becomes known you are a student of powerful wizard, and under his protection/ watch most of the guard should leave you alone - mostly.
