I'm about to start my first Forgotten Realms campaign and I have these two products. I'm a newbie when it comes to the Forgotten Realms. Is it pretty easy to incorparate Sons of Gruumsh with the Mysteries of the Moonsea campaign? Any advice would be appreciated.:)

sure its easy, they're both located in the same general vicinity. Just stick SOG where you think it fits

Would the module Scourge of the Howling Horde make a good start for a campaign in the Moonsea area? I thought the low level quests in Mysteries of the Moonsea a little too tough for 1st level characters.

Its very tough. I do not own Scourge so I can't comment but I'm sure it would take some adjustments to the plot

I am currently running a campaign in which the characters were currently tasked to Melvaunt. With both SoG & MotM, the characters are full of hooks to go any direction they want. I like the MotM format, but I would really like more set up on the individual cities also, such that one could flush out their own adventures in the city. I also miss getting big maps. :(

Then it would be a sourcebook not an adventure and a lot more interesting.

Does anybody know what the scale is supposed to be on the Moonsea area map in MotM?

MotM is not truly an adventure either. In comparison to Serpent Kingdoms, I would give the preferred format to Serpent Kingdoms. A few adventure hooks but primary a sourcebook. Which is my preference.
