| Jenemba05-02-04, 09:58 PM | How long is it going to take the people at Wizards to come up with an supplement for the region of Cormanthor? I mean, in the Campaign Setting it even stated that Myth Drannor held some of the greatest treasures in all of Faerun. I just wanted to know if we could ever expect this area to be updated in the 3.5 game since the old 2E box set is wearing out. Comments? |
| Dargoth05-02-04, 10:34 PM | The 3ed Module attack on Myth Drannor touches on parts of the city, judging by comments made by Travis PGTF team interview: "I was a little disappointed that my write-ups of the three Coronal blades of Myth Drannor didn't make it in, but I think I can squeeze them into my next project!" "I'm currently working on another Forgotten Realms product that I think a lot of gamers are going to find very useful." Rich Baker hinted that a source book on the FRs Lost Empires was in the works and judging by Travis comments I think hes working on it |
| ClobberinTime05-03-04, 03:09 PM | So its actually an interest in running myth drannor that caused me to switch my campaigns from Greyhawk to the FR. So I don't think we need an exact new write up- Here is how I would play it. So in 1356 when the elves retreat the place gets overrun with adventurers etc.... Alhoon, Demons, Devils etc... However really none of these creature is a match for the Phaenrim. The Phaenrim are much stronger in 2ed than 3 ed and I personally like the non wotc 3ed phaenrim you can find on the net better. The sort of free for all state that the 1356 boxed set describes takes place for a couple of years- However over time the Phaenrim begin to slowly take over. They will cooperate to oust dangers to themselves. All it would take is having a few of them get killed by adventurers and they would and could take over the city pretty quickly Remember these are like 40 to 50 20th plus level mages. so basically around 1357-1359 or so the number of adventurers returning from myth drannor really starts to drop. The tales of slipping out with treasure-a couple of magic items whatever start to dry up. Also the phaenrim are very smart and would probably send dominated adventurers etc... to spread false tales about the city- lead adventurers to their deaths etc... I could also see there perhaps be some sort of secret pact made between the chosen and the phaenrim. The phaenrim get left alone by the chosen, and they get to keep the city as long as they don't try and take over any of the surrounding countries (sembia) etc.... The harpers are going to frown upon people heading into myth too. 1, it can stir up a hornets nest of phaenrim and 2 they dont want any of the artifacts there to fall into the wrong hands. So this could continue until 5/1372 with very few parties and only the very strongest getting out of myth drannor alive and then being hounded by the harpers, cult of the dragon , red wizards etc... on the outside.. Not alot of fun for any party. However in 1372 a shadovar army lands in myth and does some serious damage to the phaenrim there. There are depending on how you count it between 6 and 15 or so left. Thus there is now a power vacuum, and in step the PCs. A second seizing would occur with evil dragons showing up, the shades, rws and many good aligned adventuring groups. Lets face it the Phaenrim were much more of a threat than those elven patrols ever were and with them gone and their magic up for grabs look out. |

| ClobberinTime05-03-04, 05:45 PM | its true I'll download it the 3.5 update again but I think they got rid of their spell reflection, and also took alot of levels off. The original book had to include new progressions going up to level 50. Most phaenrime were from level 30 to 45 in the original ruins of myth drannor . Plus back in those days of casting times they got a big bonus on speed , I think all their spells took like 1 segment. they did have low hps though that was their major weakness. |
| Cunning Linguist05-03-04, 05:59 PM | Take a Revered Elder, slap on 20 levels of sorcerer, and they have Caster level of 39. Then just start stacking the feats and epic spells these guys would have, and you can fix them with all kind of abilities. Want them to be faster? Epic Speed Want him to reflect spells? Epic Spell Reflection Since they cast all there spells are cast as spell-like abilities, they can't be counterspelled, I think that would make up there lack off faster spellcasting. |
