Well, that's what is said in the Player's Guide etc. in page 76.

Fine. Who made it? When? How come such an important event isn't mentioned in the City's Timeline of events?

I do think there was a gross exageration of the so-called wards of Silverymoon, and they became a Mythal.

I don't know how many of you have read Arcane Age supplements, but a Mythal is a major achievement of epic scale magic.

Anyway, I just hope someone could explain me how did it happen.

Well it doesn't seem to be a error, and none of us can really answer your questions except that it first showed up in 3e's Silver Marches as a ward that surrounded the whole city when it did exist back in 2e but only on the eastern part of the city and now it's been carried over to the Player's Guide as well.

It just astonishes me how they implement these radical changes with no explanation whatsoever.

It is really surprising.

Yes. Welcome to the club. :) Many of us have been "whining" (as the other's will call it) about these changes for over two or three years now.

I don't know what you're going on about, it was always there, even in 2e and 1e, except it was called "the wards of silverymoon." The only thing different is now they classify it as a Mythal, which really could have been done in 2e too.

As for who and when, it was created by Ecamane Turesilver, a mage from Myth Drannor, and the first human to learn from the transformed Nether Scrolls, in 574 DR. As the Nether Scrolls are the source of most known "epic scale magic" and such, I could understand why they think its a Mythal now, as Ecamane lived in a Mythal for much of his life and studied the Mythal of Myth Drannor. As I recall, it even says he modeled the wards of Silverymoon after some of the powers of the Mythal of Myth Drannor in 2e.

Actually rereading the Volo's Guide to the North, Silverymoon did have a mythal, however, it did not extend through the whole city, but just the eastern part of it and it was a rumor.

However, I still say that it isn't fully a mythal since wards, even in 2e, used the wardmist spell not a mythal spell.

Now it covers the whole city (even the new section) and extends 1000 feet in each direction beyond that. For me, that's the biggest change. I assume it also covers the several subterranean levels of the High Palace.

However! The phaerimm have migrated to Silverymoon sometime after they are driven out of Evereska (Eleasis 21, 1372). So there's hope yet that the Silverymoon Mythal will be damaged or reduced in capacity before they're done.

I plan to use this in my campaign, I can't think of a better way to scare the crap out of Silvreans.
