| Bsauey10-29-05, 11:40 PM | I am starting up a new campaign where the pc's are trying to save someone fom the clutches of one of the Demon Princes in the Abyss. They are going to do this by putting back together a portal taht will take them directly to the Demon Prince's Fortress. There are going to be a total of 20 pieces scattered across Faerun. I think i am going place some of the pieces in Undermountain, Candlekeep, the Elemenal planes, and other various places. I need some help deciding where to put the other pieces. Thanks to anyone who helps to resolve this problem. Also the pc's can't just have a wizard or cleric teleport them or open a gate because there is some kind of magic shield stopping them from getting in the layer of the abyss that the demon prince and the prisoner are located. The only way through is through the destroyed portal. |
| Kuje3110-29-05, 11:43 PM | Myth Drannor should have some... maybe left when the Army of Darkness came through. :) |
| Muddman10-30-05, 08:11 PM | Elminster's tower in Shadowdale, a pocket dimension kept in Kelbhan Blackstaff's tower, the jungles of chult, some obscure (but powerful) halruuan wizard's tower, at the bottom of the Sea of Fallen Stars, Thay, Evermeet, the forest of Cormanthor, the Great Glacier, Anauroch, The moonshae Isles, Lantan, Calim Desert Just a few suggestions |
| Jerseykill10-30-05, 08:29 PM | Throw one, maybe the last one, on one of the other Abier-Toril continents; it'd make a great final travel to complete thier quest. An idea for one of the continents I had was a completely Dragon ruled nation; it'll explain the "near-extinction" of thier race to really just be a migration, and also prove as a really cool RP thing. :) And, also for fun, throw one in a very simple spot - like a little boy's necklace his father has given him; but, have the boy be a Circus member, or something rediculous, so finding him is a pain. |
| Bsauey10-30-05, 08:35 PM | Thanks you guys. I am going to keep it in a samller area. It is basically from Shadowdale to the Sea of Swords. Or in other words the main area of the Drizzt novels and some of the Elminster ones. But I am also going to have the pc's travel to some of the planes to make it ineresting. |
| Ed Gentry10-31-05, 11:05 AM | If you want to stick to the Sword Coast (Drizzt's haunts) then, as someone suggested above, the Calimshan area would be good. Lots of magic there. Perhaps one of the Efreet of old times in that area had a piece of this gate and some powerful Pasha now has it in his possession? Pashas are always willing to wheel and deal. That could make for an interesting quest. |
| Silverpanther11-01-05, 04:10 AM | dude, this is an AWESOME campaign idea!!! Real respect  but never forget... the person that they were out to save could already have become one of the demon princes :plotting: and maybe he has (after he killed his kidnapper... of course after being a prisoner for a long time) destroyed one or two other princes over him and raised in the hierarchy of the abyss... you never know... i guess if you are tortured in an enviromnent like HELL you gain levels more quickly then striding through a cormyrian wood :rolleye2: i don`t know if you are using the rule that your chars have to train, but i do, and so i let them only level up six levels per campaign year (so it is more "realistic" that they hit epic levels in THREE years) so the "hostage" could be about CR 27 (epic (warlord?) with some real nasty demonic powers (acolyte of the skin :evillaugh or just some other powers, changes that happen to a mortal that spends too much time down there)) when your pcs arrive and find the princes castle totally destroyed... so they have to crusade in the abyss to redeem (or maybe to KILL, what is more probably :angelhide ) their friend, who grows every day in power and becomes a real menace to the innocent people of faerun... that`s tragedy, your pcs will hate you for beinfg so cruel, but i think they will love the idea and find the campaign awesomely freaking cool  well, just an opinion... anyway, please post some more information about your campaign, the pcs, the prisoner and the demon prince (since that guy won`t just let a bunch of stinking mortals pick up the pieces of his "elevator" one by one... guess they will get real trouble with his minions, won`t they?) |
| Bsauey11-01-05, 04:52 PM | Ok well first off I want to thank anyone who gave me ideas of places. Well I think that the hostage is going to go through something like in the Elminster book except that the Demon Prince can't harm the hostage only because the one pc and the demon prince are basically having a blood fued between each other. They basically said that when and if they are to hurt each other it can only be each other and no one else. But that includes kidnapping but they can't hurt the hostage. The pc's have different motovations. I think two of them are going with the quest for the reward of the hostage's return. One pc is motivated because he is charged by his country to undertake this quest. The last pc is motivated by love because he and the hostage were to be wed. It is a wierd group but it should work. I think the demon prince I am going to use is probalby Demogorgon only because well he is the supreme demon prince. I was thinking about using Errtu but he probably wouldn't be good only because he is probably still in shame from losing to Drizzt. And yes they are going to have to basically fight through the Abyss and more just to get to the Demon's Palace. I think i am going to make the hostage Duke Eltan's daughter. Duke Eltan charges the one pc to bring her back. The pc then enlists his friends to help him. I think that all that is going to happen to her is taht she is just going to be locked in a cell and questioned about the pc's to glean info on how to stop them. I will write more as i write more of the campaign. |
| Bsauey11-01-05, 05:20 PM | Actually when the campaign is finished I think i might post it on my website. I also could use some help on tweaking what is done there. If anyone wants to help its www.blakesauey.com. The campaign might not be finished for a while on account of school and other happenings. |
| Silverpanther11-02-05, 01:21 AM | okay, than another QUEEN of hell :D well, hate to tell you that, but there is a thread that demo... (whatever) is dead. okay, after her transformation they have to bind her and THEN kick the BBEG ass to free her :plotting: or what do you think, maybe she takes demos hide to become an acolyte of the skin... she tricked him somehow :evillaugh think about what that would be for a spellcaster... 30 levels of finest nasty arcane spellpower (okay, i don`t got the complete arcane, does acolyte of the skin still gives you only five spellcaster levels?) or even MORE nasty :) use the book of vile darkness, and that disgusting prestige classes :D and after redeeming her you can make that cambion a half-celestial straight from the book of exalted deeds :) |
| Tempus66511-02-05, 04:15 AM | I once had something similar. My idea was to send the PC's across all the known Realms...we had a great time! Ideas I had were, among others, Durlag's Tower, the Bell in the Depths/Deep and Warlock's Crypt. This last location wasn't supposed to be a battle-ish adventure, but more of a negotiate-with-Larloch adventure. Lost Empires of Faerūn may also offer some great ideas. |
| Bsauey11-02-05, 05:04 PM | I dont know what i am going to do with the hostage really yet. Maybe I will just have them after the pc's kill demogorgon that they will have to free her soul from a crystal that will restore her to her former self. The problem is that only Larloch knows how to destroy the crystal to free her. That should make it very interesting. I am also going to buy Lost Empires of Faerun within a couple days so I just have to wait. |
