Hello, I am hoping I can tap into your knowledge of the realms. I have never played a game in this setting, though I have a ton of experience. I am trying to apply for a game that is set in the realms, and I need to come up with a background for my character in order to get accepted.

I plan on getting some of the books, and start reading them if I get accepted (seems pretty over-due, since I think I'm the only person in the world not familiar with this setting)

I want to create a halfling warlock, and the DM is requiring a few things

1. we must be of noble blood,
2. we are current in Silverymoon (wherever that is!)
3. the family we are from must be based in or near the silver marches.

I have no idea what #2, and #3 mean, can you guys help me out? can you help me develop a background for a halfling noble from that area?

thanks!

SIlverymoon is in the SIlver Marches.

i'd definitely recommend getting your hands on a copy of that silver marches book for your game, since it seems you'll be spending plenty of time there. should be able to find it cheap on ebay and elsewhere if you're a little patient.

however, just in terms of character creation, a halfling noble family from Silverymoon doesn't take any special particular knowledge.

just make up a halfling-ish sounding family name, like "proudpipe" or something, flesh out a little history of them as successful merchants in silverymoon, and there ya have it. i've not played in silverymoon, nor have i run a game there, so i don't know it inside and out by any means, but it is one of the major cities in all of faerun. most people in faerun, no matter where they're from, have probably at least heard of it. so, the main realms campaign setting should give good details on it, altho i don't have it with me here at work.

have fun with your game!
