To main thing: I am trying to gather thing I need to write a Forgotten Realm book, but I need the names of books that contains Magic, Deities, Arms/Armor, etc.etc. If anyone can list a list for me, I'd highly appreicate it cause I'm rather lost on which are the ones I need in order to do research!!! -Slime Lord (Charlie) (Note: If this is the wrong place to ask this, I'm sorry. Races of Fearun, all the Major, and minor races of the realms explained in detail. Are you also looking for books that explain in detail about some of the FR regions?
The Simbul 07-29-04, 01:40 AM	Personally I would send in a writing sample to WoTC, preferably a fiction fantasy piece, and if you arent knowledgeable about the FR in partciular, you could simply make it a generic fantasy writing piece. They state that they evaluate their writing samples based on it's quality rather than what it's setting is. So if you only purpose for those sourcebooks is to research a potential novel you would wish to write, I would personally send in a writing sample to them first before spending money on resources to write a FR book. They dont accept outside manuscripts for novels set in their campaign setting, but rather they will hire a prospective author to write a specific novel or storyline for them with a plot which fits into the designs for the FR timeline and the like. I am pretty sure they would provide resource materials for a specific book if they had a theme or setting in mind for a hired author, although it wouldnt hurt to have a firm grasp on the campaign settting yourself before auditionting for such a project. I am not trying to discourage you, I just wouldnt want you to waste alot of money on sourcebooks and alot of time writing a good novel manuscript if it might not in the end be accepted, or if the only reason you plan to buy those sourcebooks is soley for that project..

Do they recomend how much of whatever you might have written, that they would like to have? Because I think I could write a good book(s) for them, even though I'm not very experinced at any of this it's one of those things I'd like to give it ago at because I've been told I have good writing skills, just I have to take my time writing things so it feels right... You know how it goes, right? lol. Thanks for telling me that though, I appreicate it. But now I have to debate with my self. My plan was to finish the Story Basis Chapters for my book I was already deciding to write, and then I would just edit it and all that stuff to Forgotten Realm way. So I suppose I'll have to create anew character to do this, but I still think I should look into these books. Thanks again and if anyone has anymore pointers, I'd love to hear them! Edit: If anyone can tell me how many pages the average Short Story submission is, that would help alot as well. :)

Unapproachable East : Explains in detail about Thay, Resheman, Thesk, and border regions. Slime Lord 07-29-04, 04:09 PM	I thought downloading the Books was illegal? But since I seen it was directly from Wizards, it must not be. But I don't have a PDF reader on my computer, anyone know of one that I can use? I need oen anyways because I download the Submission download from their Submission of Books and can't open it because I don't have a PDF opener :) Another Question: How many chapters and/or pages is considered a Short Story? I saw that I should send in a Short Story (non-Realm/DD/Ebb) but it didn't state what they recomend or anything. As you see, I still need alot of help ;) Oh, totally off topic question: There are two contents in Toril. Why is it that only Faerun is the one with all the attention? I've heard of the second name, but I don't remember it and still I'm baffled why there is never anything about it!!!
