| Goth08-25-03, 03:42 AM | Here's a question, and as I don't know too much about this diety, maybe someone here can help. Bear in mind, no, this isn't exactly the purest roleplay idea out there. This is about trying to mess a great game mechanic with a good roleplay angle. For all the hardcore roleplayers out there, I'm actually asking this because I want to roleplay this well. :) Friends and I are starting a campaign. I want to play a true neutral druid, but not the "balance is everything" kind. The "Whatever. How will this affect me?" kind. Now, I know followers of Melikki are generally good, or at least worried about the balance of nature in some motivated fashion. The question is this; Is there some aspect of the diety that allows for a character like mine? I ask because, quite honestly, the ability of druid of Melikki to forego your oaths and take up metal is an appealing one. I want to be able to roleplay it right, and was wondering if there was some aspect of the diety I haven't seen that would make someone like this follow her. If not, I'll just have him follow Shaundakul, and forget about it. It's just a nice feature of following this diety. Thanks for the time. |
| Another Gnome08-25-03, 04:14 AM | Use the 3.5 rules and have all druids use whatever weapons they please. Armor is still restricted to non-metal, but the limited armor selection can be bypassed by using ironwood spell or dragonhide (the armor thing also works with 3.0 rules). Anyway, for a goddess all about kindness and caring, a follower whose core philosophy is "I don't care" really doesn't sound like a good idea. |

Even if he's a loner, he'll care about what happens around him, if nature is threatened and things like that. That's a part of the druid class, even if you do'nt go for the WHOLE balance stuff. Now for the neutral god/neutral follower thing that's just a non sens for druids but it's just a (very) personnal tought Btw watch my sig ;) |

But "I don't care" mentality might fit well for other neutral characters but not for druids no matter of what deity. |

NO people, the 1 step rule is for all divine casters and all people who take a patron deity, at least officially. "Druids recieve thier spells from a patron deity, always a deity of animals or nature." Since they recieve spells and abilities from a deity, they must follow the 1 step rule, at least officially. |
| Goth08-25-03, 09:44 PM | Good food for thought. Thanks. It's been a while since I've played, and I wanted to get it right. One question left, though. I thought the one step rule was as long as one of the two alignments was there, such as: LG Diety allows LN, CG, NG. Obviously, LE is out, but I thought the others applied. |

In 3e a LG deity would allow alignments of LG, LN, and NG, at least going by Torm's and Tyr's entries in Faiths and Pantheons, since they are both LG. |
