| Xatru07-06-05, 04:56 PM | Greetings all! I plan to play a campain around and in Neverwinter but I can't find any detailed map. In the Forgotten Realms Core book is only a short description about Neverwinter but nothing detailed. Anyone can help please? |
| Kuje3107-06-05, 05:21 PM | There's not a lot about Neverwinter. The North box set has some info. One of the Volo's Guides should, either the North or the Sword Coast one. The campaign box sets and Savage Frontier should have some info. |
| Old Sage07-07-05, 01:07 AM | One of the Volo's Guides should, either the North or the Sword Coast one. It's Volo's Guide to the North. The Sword Coast isn't *traditionally* interpreted as such that far north ;). |
| Kadasbrass07-07-05, 04:31 AM | There really isn't a whole lot on it, for the most part Neverwinter is a footnote. (except in Niverwinter Nigths, but thats not offical conent and even then its just basic info that most cities already have in common) However do not let the lack of exisitence of a map or real info place a limit on you. Shape Neverwinter (or any other city you want to use) into something that is similar to another city near you or one thats you been too. Include into it the basic stuff you've seen in movies of medievil cities and castles, and anything you've seen in towns or cities from any D&D novels. You don't need an entire city day one, just think of the basics, the north side, the east side. If you want something that sounds more alive just assign names your familar with to sections of the city; Southtown, Manhattan, Georgetown. Same goes with streets and buildings, the Green Goblin Inn, the Broken Vial, Hell's Forge, Sorcerer Lane, and Halfling Avenue. Just come up with the names as you need them, don't waste alot of time trying to recreate a whole city, it will just end up a waste I'm afaird. |
| Inspired_Mage07-07-05, 05:20 AM | why not try this think, it seems like one of the better maps i have seen http://www.adriftgames.com/nyrthellan/reference/maps/neverwinter-map.htm |
| BadCatMan07-07-05, 08:16 AM | You can see maps of Neverwinter from Neverwinter Nights (which were based on the maps in the early 90s AOL proto-MMORPG of the same name) at various walkthrough websites for NWN. For example: www.gamebanshee.com/neverwinternights/nwnwalkthrough/citycore.php is the city core. More parts can be seen in the Chapter 1 section, and post-attack can be seen in Chapter 4. Beware, spoilers. |
| Xatru07-07-05, 11:39 AM | Thanks you guys, that was exactly what I was looking for :D |
| Alac Luin07-07-05, 12:13 PM | The above mentioned Volo's Guide to the North (and a few others) is a free download on this page http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads |
| Faraer07-08-05, 01:51 PM | The Neverwinter Nights map of Neverwinter isn't authentic: it just doesn't match what's known about the city in several respects. This isn't out of any 'computer games aren't canon' dogma: I'd happily use Baldur's Gate's layout of Candlekeep. |
| Demetrios07-08-05, 03:25 PM | In one (or more) of the suppliments covering the North, it's said that no official maps of Neverwinter exist - any that are found are destroyed on orders of Lord Nasher. I assume that's why no maps of the city have appeared in any FR product that I know of. So basically, this means you can just go ahead and design your own map of the city, using what descriptive text you can find as a guide. |
| Borris07-08-05, 10:15 PM | By order of Lord Nasher, it is illegal to make maps of the city of Neverwinter. Doing so would just make things easier for the Arcane Broterhood and/or High Captains of Luskan should they decide to attack Neverwinter. |
| Xatru07-09-05, 05:23 AM | Too bad, I think I have to speak with Lord Nasher then, possible he'll hand me out one of that maps he have. |
