What seems to be a semi- draconic turtle with a crystalline shell stands before you. Muscular arms and legs protrude from the shell, ending in razor sharp talons.

Dracryst are what appears to be the result of experimental breeding of Force Dragons and Earth Elementals. They stand at just over 6ft tall and have a very wide and muscular build. They have earth-toned scales and draconic facial and claw features. Their most notable feature is the crystalline shell that covers the chest and back of all of their kind. The crystals range from an opaque to a dark purple. Dracryst love to dig and mine for gems and precious metals, and can be found in the service of dragons willing to pay a portion of the findings back to the mining crew. Dracryst weigh about 400lbs and speak Terran and Draconic.

Combat
Dracryst's covetous nature makes the fierce opponents when they suspect someone is trying to steal from their horde or mining haul. They will attack the stronger looking opponents first, saving there special attack for weaker opponents.

Spell Absorption (SU): A Dracryst shell has the ability to absorb spells and spell-like abilities, dealing force or energy damage, similar to a rod of absorption.

Force Blast (SU): If any spell or spell-like ability dealing force or any kind of energy damage hits the Dracryst, it is absorbed into the crystal shell of the creature. The Dracryst takes only half the damage, and now has a charge equal to the spell level of the spell used. The Dracryst can now use these charges to create a blast of force in a 20ft radius centered on the creature. The creature can hold up to 15 spell levels or charges, dealing a d6 of force damage per spell level. Reflex save DC 10 + charges used for half damage. If a Dracryst exceeds the normal charge limit, it explodes, killing the creature and dealing 20d6 piercing damage to everybody within 5ft, no save. For every 5ft beyond that the damage is 5d6 less and a DC25 reflex save is allowed for half damage. For every size category up from medium a Dracryst can hold 10 more charges. These charges fade after 24 hrs.

Dracryst Shells
If a Dracryst dies without exploding, it's shell can be made into breastplate with an Armor bonus of +6, Max dex of +1, armor check of -2, and 15% spell failure. It weighs 15lbs and is treated as light armor and is always masterwork. There is a 50% chance of the Force Blast ability to be retained. Is it is the wearer must have worn the armor for 24hrs to become attuned to it, so as to determine the amount of charges it has and can hold. The threat of explosion still applies. Charges fade after 12 hrs

Dracryst shell material can be used in place of metal for other armors as well but without the benefit of the Force Blast ability. It adds +1 to the existing armor bonus, allows for a max dex of +1, -2 to the existing armor check penalty, -10 to existing spell failure, and divide the weight in half. The armor is considered one weight class lighter than normal.
