I'm a relatively new player and DM, coming up on a year's worth of playing. The DM at the start of the campaign decided to stop because he wasn't having as much fun as he thought he would so I was sort of volunteered to step up to the plate and try DM'ing. I was let in on the campaign story thus far, which mostly was a broad idea, and I was able to come up with a twist of my own and I am just wondering what the experts here thought.

Currently the party is thrown together, two of the original four surviving to this point. They have so far been up against a what they have been percieved as a cult to Gruumsh. This is what I am thinking about so far...

Gruumsh is currently directing this cult to start wars everywhere with armies of orcs the likes of which haven't been seen since the Orcgate Wars. This is serving two purposes, one being to gain a foothold in several areas and two to act as a distraction for his true mission. He is in the plans of creating an avatar that is native to the prime world and at the same time crashing the Weave. Supposedly one cannot do that to the Weave any more because of Mystra changing it to disallow any one from casting such a spell.

But this all goes back to the true mastermind behind the plot, Shar. She is manipulating Gruumsh into doing the dirty work. The spell to crash the Weave (in a similar manner as Karsus) will actually be powered by the Shadow Weave.

When the Weave goes down and Gruumsh has his native avatar in Faerun he'll take charge of the armies and start conquering, not realizing that all his backing is from Shar.

That's basically it in a nutshell. PC's will eventually try to stop this from happening but right now due to circumstances they are playing catch up. What do the lore masters and Faerun experts think about this idea? As I said I'm fairly new to things with only a basic grasp of the history of Toril and such. Any comments or suggestions?

Thank you for your time.
