I see there's a "news from waterdeep" webarticle.

all I gotta say is "cool" I've long sortta thought that ebberon feature was nifty and am glad to see something similer done with faerun.

of course like all of ed's stuff my on complaint is "damnit! I want more!"

They need more of these articles. I am sick of seeing all that excessive online content for that other campaign setting, which I will not lower myself into naming.

They should pick a new name for the Newspaper if they make it a continuous feature about waterdeep. I am sure there is something in one of the books that mentions names of local newspapers in a given region.

I think there was...a few months ago there was an article about newspapers/gossip papers in Waterdeep. I just can't recall what the actual name was.

they were called Broadsheets :whatsthis

I have a player whose character likes them, so I give them the first half of the Realmslore and skip the actual events.

Not in waterdeep, but there is Tavernant's Tellings in Suzail, Cormyr.
This is more a "gossip" thing then news, but then again whats the difference anyway. ;)
(here there is even the term of "Scorched" has taken hold)

"Broadsheet" is also a catch all phrase, not only can it be things posted on street corners, it has been used to describe some publications

The Maiden Said Maybe, High Ladies in Love, and The Elf Maiden and the Unicorn are a few of the broadsheets for sale.

These don't sound like news papers to me.

If you have any ideas for a good name for the column please post it in this thread and if something catches our eye we may just use it :)

Just thought some people might want to know this:

Hi. Yes, I'm back, and Ed got back late, late last night. I haven't talked to him yet, but I do know Wizards is sitting on thousands of words of Waterdeep "news items" by Ed, and has been sitting on them for years.
I have no idea if this is going to be an "only by Ed" feature - - but if they use only Ed's stuff, I'd say they have a year's worth of one-a-week entries on hand already.
love to all,

If they have been sitting on them for years, that makes them old news.
So, for a name...

Ye Ol' News of Waterdeep

If it's gonna be penned by Elminster, they should called it "The Sagacity of It"

(prolly too much of a wordplay for most, tho

Splendors Sentinel
Trade Ward Times (perhaps a little too local sounding)
New Olamn News
Baeron's Broadsheet (first in Waterdahavian news since 1278 DR!)

Just a few ideas.

Sweet waters to you!

Now if we could only get some Current Clack, like the old supplements always had.....

How about...Tavern Tales....I mean, afterall, they are part gossip / news. And everyone at one point visits a Tavern in Waterdeep (from the poor to the rich elite).

Or even Tall Tavern Tales for the broadsheets passed around the Dock's & Trade Wards.

Could be the Waterdeep Wazoo. Or get AJA to contribute and call it The Waterdeep Herald after his excellent webpage (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Castle/2566/waterdeep-herald.htm).

The current clack was one of our best views as to what adventurous life in the Realms is like, because it shows us the Realms in action/process/practice, month to month, rather than a static snapshot, a Big Important Events history, or a set-piece novel.

Hence why I want it back :weep:

just call it good lore from ed, eric, stephen, george, etc... and get input from everyone. and give us an article a day :D i know i want it all.

When i die, i hope to go to ed's basement to live eternally amongst the thousands of pages of realmslore.
