| MarkusTay6301-07-08, 11:22 AM | Okay, I was just thinking about a song, and for some reason it made me come up with a VERY unlikey book plot - A female member of the Starym family falls in love with Obould's son. Now, on the surface, that seems utterly ridiculous - but I think thats why it could make a facinating story. I figure she's attacked (probably by other Elves), and is saved by Obould Jr., who nurses her back to health (because of her incredible beauty). She, on the other hand, finds him completely repulsive... but for the first time in her life some really cares about her, and doesn't just want to use her in some sort of plot. heh, it could happen. Anyway, the idea is to come up with a plot that we think would be interesting in a novel. It doesn't neccessarily have to be as far-fetched as mine, and any time period is welcome as well. So, what do you guys have? :D |
| Kenzuki01-07-08, 11:28 AM | The Ascension of The Dead Three! Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul as mortals adventure across the Realms in their quest for godhood. See them in all their hardships and triumphs as they **** everyone off in their mad bid for power! The Return of Bane! Watch as the body of Xvim the Godson explodes open like an unholy cocoon as a reborn Bane slowly shucks off his weak sons flimsy shell and ascends back to his Throne, scaring the crap out of everyone! He then turns and looks at the camera and says "What do you mean Wizards isn't going to use me in any major plothooks for the next 6 or 7 years!" |
| MarkusTay6301-07-08, 04:16 PM | Also, as has been mentioned in previous threads, a trilogy set in Mulhorand's Past. And lest I forget, One set during the Crown wars - A trilogy penned by Schend, Cunningham, and Greenwood. :cloud9: |
| Khaelieth01-07-08, 05:55 PM | I wouldn't like to see an elf sullied so by being touched by an orc. OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul were always awesome, still are. What about Myrkul getting back on his feet, Bane and Myrkul needing an assassin to kill off... say... Eilistraee. Ressurect Bhaal to do it (yeah, yeah, can't ressurect outsider, but look at Gilgeam!) and Bob's your uncle! The total annihialation (sp?) of the Star Elves. The Knights of the Shield place a puppet on Tethyr's throne. Ravenloft fuses with Faerūn. Hehehhehehehehe... Mists. Actually, last one would only be funny (if a tad stupid and uneccesary and I wouldn't do it. But it's novel!) Artemis: Hey, Drizzt, let's go for a walk... No swords. Drizzt: Okay! Artemis: *Pushes Drizzt into the mist* Now, using Ravenloft to destroy Eberron... Tempting, tempting... |
| Kenzuki01-07-08, 06:05 PM | Actually it is possible to ressurect a god and it has been done before. Heck, Lord Ao could one day decied that Cyric sucks as the Lord of Murder and ressurect Bhaal himself ala Torm if he wanted. All of Realmspace is Ao's private sandbox and he can do whatever he wants to with it. I like to picture Ao as a cosmic Mr Clean like figure who reclines in a collosal lawnchair getting a tan and gets angry when the children misbehave. |
| GreenKnight01-07-08, 06:06 PM | I wouldn't like to see an elf sullied so by being touched by an orc. OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! You think that's bad? How about an elf and a halfling. There was a Dark Sun novel that had just that, with a character named Sorak who had a Halfling father and an Elf mother. |
| Kenzuki01-07-08, 06:12 PM | This is actually Ao's holy symbol. http://homelessmanspeaks.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/mr-clean-sept-28-2007.jpg |
| Khaelieth01-07-08, 06:13 PM | You think that's bad? How about an elf and a halfling. There was a Dark Sun novel that had just that, with a character named Sorak who had a Halfling father and an Elf mother. At least a halfling's not green! But their heads would be cut off and placed on stakes. |

Completely forgot that Cyric was the Lord of Murder! Thievessess... But I don't think Ao would need to interfere, just a few nutcase cultists! I've toyed with the idea of goblins digging up long-buried vampires cultists of Bhaal... |
| Kenzuki01-07-08, 06:17 PM | Cyric should have taken Mystra's stuff when he killed her, but I guess he bubble-hearthed to escape the collapse of her realm. |
| Lord Karsus01-07-08, 06:55 PM | Ravenloft fuses with Faerūn. Hehehhehehehehe... Mists. Actually, last one would only be funny (if a tad stupid and uneccesary and I wouldn't do it. But it's novel!) -Ravenloft and the Forgotten Realms have "merged" multiple times. See the novel Vampire of the Mists, and the adventure Castle Spulzeer. -As for the topic...I'll get back to you. Don't want to see any Elven/Orcish crossbreeding, though. |
| Dark Wizard01-07-08, 07:23 PM | You think that's bad? How about an elf and a halfling. There was a Dark Sun novel that had just that, with a character named Sorak who had a Halfling father and an Elf mother. I guess the shortest guys have the biggest ... feet. There are stats and write ups by various gamers for 'Elflings.' |
| Old Sage01-07-08, 07:25 PM | -Ravenloft and the Forgotten Realms have "merged" multiple times. See the novel Vampire of the Mists, and the adventure Castle Spulzeer. Here are all the official ties between the Realms and RAVENLOFT:- From: FORGOTTEN REALMS Draga Saltbitter was a pirate in the Sword Coast Chardath Spulzeeer from area south of Waterdeep (see: Castle Spulzeeer) Gondegal conqueror of Arabel and Knight of the Shadows. Harkon Lukas grew up in Cormyr, now in Kartakass Hazlik Red Wizard from Thay Jander Sunstar Salizarr the Meazel lived under Cormyrs catacombs now in Necropolis Nova Vassa from Vaasa and Hordelands Von Kharkov Lord of Valachan From: Kara-Tur [FORGOTTEN REALMS] Domain of I'Cath Jahed of the Stalkers (see: MCII) Mayonaka (see: MCII) |
| Old Sage01-07-08, 07:28 PM | "Manshoon Wars" by Steven Schend. 'Nuff said! |
| Lord Karsus01-07-08, 08:10 PM | -I'd like to see a novel (stand alone), about the adventures Josidiah Starym had in finding and reclaiming his Elfblade. I'd like to see a "Realms of Myth Drannor Anthology", filled with short stories about Myth Drannor- it's founding, the apex of it's society, and after it's fall. Finally, I'd like to see a novel (three part trilogy) about the Imaskari being toppled by the deity-kings of the Mulhorandi and the Untheric. |
| MarkusTay6301-07-08, 10:32 PM | A Myth Drannor Anthology would be awesome, and as for that last one - I figure the Mulan Slave Revolt would be book I of the Old Empires Trilogy. :D Book II - Orcgate wars Book III - The Fall of Unther That trilogy practically writes itself. Also, a novel set in old Jaamdath, or perhaps a series of books set during that time period (Arcane Age re-dux?), with stuff on old Calimshan during the Shoon Imperium, the war between Raumathar and Narfell, and maybe even one set during the fall of Netheril (although that last one would make a helluva Anthology). |

You could literally write an entire trilogy on all three points- Mulan Slave Revolt, the Orcgate Wars, and the Fall of Unther. |
| Kenzuki01-08-08, 08:12 AM | I wish they would do some Baldur's Gate novels that didn't suck....but since that won't happen. Neverwinter Nights novels! Make these events somewhat canon Wizards! |
| Khaelieth01-08-08, 10:19 AM | I know Faerūn and Ravenloft have a few links, Sunstar being one of my favourite D&D chars ever=) I meant that it sorta just became a new continent or something. Btw, seen that Ravenloft's getting a bit attention lately [From WotC]? |
| MarkusTay6301-08-08, 12:34 PM | -Personally, I think that's way too much for three books. You could literally write an entire trilogy on all three points- Mulan Slave Revolt, the Orcgate Wars, and the Fall of Unther. While thats entirely true, I really doubt that WotC would think there is enough interest in that area to do nine novels, whereas just rolling off a trilogy that highlights the important 'turning points' of each of those events is more in-line with something that could happen. Also, a novel (Antholgy?) set during the time period when the Elves (Eladrin?) first arrived on Toril from Faerie (the Feywild?). You had the Elven arrival, Dragon Kingdoms, Giant Kingdoms, Hordes of Barbaric humans and Goblinoids, and at least one civilized human culture! There's a LOT that can be done with THAT era. |

So... |
| Kenzuki01-08-08, 02:22 PM | I would think WoTC would be happy to do this. I mean novels generate money and money is good last time I checked. It's also a service to your fans I think. Instead of writting about all these new things and pushing the timeline forward all the time why not write some of these past events? |
| Lord Karsus01-08-08, 04:12 PM | I would think WoTC would be happy to do this. I mean novels generate money and money is good last time I checked. | Old Sage01-08-08, 06:32 PM | Btw, seen that Ravenloft's getting a bit attention lately [From WotC]?Indeed, it is. A series of novels set in "historically fictional" domains. No word on sourcebooks yet. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus01-08-08, 07:02 PM | How about a novel about a SEAL team that get stranded in the realm and one of theys teammates gets captured by a Drow patrol Party to be saled as a slave in Skullport and the SEAL team goes out to rescue his buddy? :shifty:.... What? :hides: |
| Kenzuki01-08-08, 07:21 PM | How about a novel about a SEAL team that get stranded in the realm and one of theys teammates gets captured by a Drow patrol Party to be saled as a slave in Skullport and the SEAL team goes out to rescue his buddy? :shifty:.... What? :hides: I'de rather read a novel about human pirates fighting drow ninja. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus01-08-08, 07:34 PM | I know! that's exactly what that thread remminds me off |
| MarkusTay6301-09-08, 04:02 PM | Btw, seen that Ravenloft's getting a bit attention lately [From WotC]?The new preview book, Worlds & Mansters, has lead me to a startling conclusion - Ravenloft is becoming part of the new Shadowfell! The Shadar-Kai live there, and they are just the 3e version of the Shadow Elves from the Ravenloft supplement The Shadow Rift. In the original version of RL, those Elves were supposed to be Drow, but then they were ret-conned and became 'Shadow-Tainted' Elves. Also, there is some stuff about 4e planes 'over-lappping' and infringing on Prime-material worlds; The text specifically points to the Far Realms (Abeir?), but I think all of the planes will be handled this way, with parts of them becoming cotermonious to certain worlds. Toril, in particular, would be the perfect candidate for this treatment, given all the hints about "the Realms no longer being Forgotten". I hate to say it, but the 4e Realms are starting to sound interesting... although I still seperate it in my mind from the 'classic' Realms. -They have their own internal mechanisms to determine what novels to release. What they are, I don't know, but...I believe they use trained Manatees for that. How about a novel about a SEAL team that get stranded in the realm and one of theys teammates gets captured by a Drow patrol Party to be saled as a slave in Skullport and the SEAL team goes out to rescue his buddy? http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-31.gif |
| Fingoldfin01-09-08, 05:57 PM | I just did a post on the ask the Realms Designers thread requesting a trilogy about the Weeping War. I love some of the ideas that you guys came up with. Keep up the good work. If I come up with anymore ideas I'll post them. |
| Dzwood01-09-08, 06:57 PM | Mystra dies and Bammm!! A story about how Midnight survies as a mortal with soem nifty powers and stuff. I know I am beating a dead horse with that one but it could be awsome |
| RedXdelivers01-09-08, 10:49 PM | i would love to see a kegend of jarlaxle series with his past in menzoberranzan. possible zak cameo. or elaith columber and jarlaxle. |
| Suin Bahhar01-10-08, 04:03 PM | I"d love to see a novel on a Shadow Thieves - Red Knives gang war in Sembia. And more (short) stories on Erevis Cale, Elaith Craulnober, Shanyrria Alenuath, Tsara, Taean, Semmemnon and Manshoon. I'd like a more planar themed FR novel too, with a journey through some of the Realms more interesting planes and some divine intrigues. |

As cool as that sounds the gods are going to be distant and unknowable in 4e so it sonnds unlikely |
| Storm_Silverhand01-10-08, 04:59 PM | Heya, I wish they would do some Baldur's Gate novels that didn't suck....but since that won't happen. Neverwinter Nights novels! Make these events somewhat canon Wizards! I believe they have. See the Tarsakh 30, 1372 DR entry in AGHotR. It mentions the Wailing Death... That is the only entry concerning the NWN OC, though. There's no mention of the war that follows. I'm kind of glad they haven't make the OC canon, because then they'd have to choose an ending... and they might not choose the "right" one. ;) Hmm... Maybe I need to pick up my old fan fic and finish it... |
| Lord Karsus01-10-08, 06:23 PM | I'd like a more planar themed FR novel too, with a journey through some of the Realms more interesting planes and some divine intrigues. -The ongoing Empyrian Oddessy Trilogy deals with the Planes of Faerūn. It is likely that what goes on in this trilogy will be used to explain the new cosmology the Realms is getting...again. Beware, however, as Cyric seems to be involved. I believe they have. Nothing else is mentioned, so none of the rest of the plot is canon. In Shadows of Undrentide, the Netherese enclave of Undrentide (which was non-canon), was added into the map of Netheril in AGHotR, so the existence to that city is canon now as well. I never got very far in the third expansion pack, so I don't know if anything was made canon... |

| MarkusTay6301-11-08, 12:41 PM | If Cyric is in it, it's an "avoid at all costs" novel for me, sorry. I just hate the little weasel. |
| Kenzuki01-11-08, 02:30 PM | I'll have to check out that series. Is the first book any good? |
| Lord Karsus01-11-08, 07:55 PM | What name does the first book have, and what planes are visited? -The first book is called The Gossamer Plain (http://www.amazon.com/Gossamer-Plain-Forgotten-Realms-Empryean/dp/0786940247/ref=pd_bbs_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200099168&sr=8-10) I'll have to check out that series. Is the first book any good? -I try to buy all of the Forgotten Realms, books, to keep in the know. This was the reason I got this book, as I am not particularly interested in the main characters. Truthfully, and I am going to be fully honest, no, I don't think the book was very good. |
| Lykor01-11-08, 09:25 PM | -Cyric gets mauled by bees and dies. You might complain, but it makes about as much sense as the rest of 4e. -Halaster and the Simbul have a kid. All characters over level 10 are forced to stay over 10 miles away from Halbul to avoid a colossal vortex of PWN from destroying the space/time continuum. -Mad Mage II: Beyond Thunderdome. Shar and Lloth enter, one uber-plot dark goddess leaves. -Is lack of an RSE considered a plot? -More novels by Steve Shend or Elaine Cunningham. Duct tape them to a chair if need be. |
| msatran01-11-08, 09:27 PM | I'd like to see a novel that erases this new 'Mad Max Beyond the Forgotten Realms" and replaces it with something that doesn't read like Dan Didio and Joe Quesada got together in an airplane hangar with some crack, the dead body of Catherine the Great, and a Stud Racehorse and did some incantations... |
| Lord Karsus01-11-08, 09:29 PM | More novels by Steve Shend or Elaine Cunningham. Duct tape them to a chair if need be. -I'd like that very much. The stories, not the taping them to a chair. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin01-11-08, 09:50 PM | -I'd like that very much. The stories, not the taping them to a chair. I'd like to tie YOU to a chair, and see what you come up with... |
| Kenzuki01-11-08, 09:56 PM | I'd like to tie YOU to a chair, and see what you come up with... That sounds....suggestive. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin01-11-08, 10:01 PM | ;) |
| Old Sage01-11-08, 10:07 PM | -More novels by Steve Shend or Elaine Cunningham. Duct tape them to a chair if need be.Well, we've got both Blackstaff Tower [from Schend] and Reclamation [from Cunningham] coming later this year. |
| Lord Karsus01-11-08, 10:08 PM | I'd like to tie YOU to a chair, and see what you come up with... -A VERY good story. One for the ages. ;) |

| MarkusTay6301-11-08, 10:39 PM | Well, we've got both Blackstaff Tower [from Schend] and Reclamation [from Cunningham] coming later this year.:cloud9: Right now, all I can come up with is ANYTHING pre-1385 will make me happy at this point. How about, Elminster sees a bunch of young maidens, and DOESN'T try to seduce them? ;) Thats gotta be an EPIC tale... :P |
| Lord Karsus01-11-08, 10:48 PM | Thats gotta be an EPIC tale... :P -Yeah, yeah...That'd be my story. An EPIC tale... |
| MarkusTay6301-11-08, 10:50 PM | First you get tied to a chair, and now you're looking for some Epic tail? You've got a one-track mind. :D |

It is likely that what goes on in this trilogy will be used to explain the new cosmology the Realms is getting...again. Beware, however, as Cyric seems to be involved. Beware you say? Sounds like it could be the best series put out in years from that fact alone. :) |
| Dzwood01-12-08, 10:57 PM | Id like to see Evermeet get ****** off and go to war and take over some place. Sure the elves took back one crumbleing old city but the race as a whole could sure use some back bone. Its been a while sine people HAd no choice but to fear the great elven race. Not sure where they would do it though |
| Lord Karsus01-12-08, 11:14 PM | Beware you say? Sounds like it could be the best series put out in years from that fact alone. :) -All things considering, hardly. |
| XHereticX01-13-08, 12:04 AM | ;) :yuck: Please...never again:eek: Anyway, I want a series on the misadventures of the Dark Three, like many here. I would also like to see more novels situated in Kara-Tur as well. I have always loved Wu-Jen, and it would be cool to see it in a Realms novel.:) |
| Lord Karsus01-13-08, 01:26 AM | I would also like to see more novels situated in Kara-Tur as well. I have always loved Wu-Jen, and it would be cool to see it in a Realms novel.:) -Ah, yes, yes, agreed. |

| Kenzuki01-14-08, 01:44 PM | -Ah, yes, yes, agreed. As long as it has samurai fighting ninja, yeah I'm down with that. Maybe throw in some ninja on pirate action in their as well.:D |
| MarkusTay6301-14-08, 02:11 PM | Ninja Pirates would be SO cheesy... and yet... I would love to see them as well. :D |
| Kenzuki01-14-08, 02:18 PM | Ninja Pirates would be SO cheesy... and yet... I would love to see them as well. :D You KNOW you would! Johnny Depp vs David Carridine. |
| Lord Karsus01-14-08, 05:26 PM | As long as it has samurai fighting ninja, yeah I'm down with that. Maybe throw in some ninja on pirate action in their as well.:D -I personally think a novel trilogy progressing the state of affairs in Tabot would be interesting. Political intrigue, Samurai, Lamas, Ninjas, Brigands, Yeti, Magic...Who wouldn't like that? |
| MarkusTay6301-14-08, 05:37 PM | Thats only because you are doing Tabot for the Kara-Tur thread. :P All of K-T is interesting, and it has so much potential that is just going to waste. :( |
| Lord Karsus01-14-08, 06:12 PM | Thats only because you are doing Tabot for the Kara-Tur thread. :P -For as much as I used to not like Tabot, due to the blatent rip-offs, it's a cool place. All of K-T is interesting, and it has so much potential that is just going to waste. :( -It's best that way, so that it is not mentioned again, and we don't have to deal with designers/authors making things worse than they already are. |
| MarkusTay6301-14-08, 09:38 PM | Wise words my friend... |
| Lord Karsus01-14-08, 10:24 PM | -Yeah, I'd rather not talk to a friend, than see him die... |
