| Ozar10-23-03, 01:37 PM | How do you calculate the various NPC methods of gaining XP? For all of those non-adventuring Wizards/Sorcerors, the guards, the stay-at-temple priest.. I am especially curious because of spellcasters' item crafting abilities. If they never gained XP, they would have a rough time making items or golems or whatever. So how is this factored in? And would it be feasible to have a PC gain XP in a similar method? (Assuming story/adventuring downtime.) Finally, sorry if my wording is less than perfect or if this is the wrong board.. I'm very weary at the moment. |

City guards fight crime, stay-at-the-temple priests have deep conversations with followers and would-be followers of their deity, and spellcasters travel the planes (or just their home plane) in search for components. You can think of a lot of things for these NPC´s to do when the PC´s aren´t around. |

The clerics had to answer worshippers questions about their faiths, the mages had to train apprentices, the thieves had to run a thieve guild, etc. |
