Hellooooooo, nurse! The expansion of Neverwinter Nights 2 - The Mark of the Betrayer - has been unveiled and scheduled for the latter part of the year ("this fall," they say). Expect epic levels, much more content, and improved modding tools, and a campaign that would tie with the end of the OC, from what I gather. Even better, it's set in one of my favourite locales of the Realms - ye olde Unapproachable East. Yep, Rashemen, Thay, and all the other exotic places of legend that we hear much about but seldom see are finally getting the attention they well deserve. If I were to sum my feelings about this, I think it would take one word:

Yes!

Wohooooooo. It has logic with the mention of Portals guarded by Red Wizards.

-It's not fair. I have NWN2, and I installed it a while ago, but it kept on crashing, and it seems my computer coulsn't handle it. So, now it's uninstalled, just sitting in the shelf next to all of my novels and sourcebooks, teasing me...:(

Ouch... you tried the latest patches? Supposedly a lot of stability fixes in there. Never had a problem personally, so couldn't speak to it really. :(

I bought NWN2 under the impression my computer could run it so-and-so (did the online requirements test), but when the game arrived I found out they had upped the minimum requirements for the graphics card like a week earlier. :(

I still kept it though and news of an expansion is nice to hear... maybe I'll even have a better computer by then.

The first few patches have helped ameliorate the requirement somewhat, but yeah, I've heard a lot of people over Sorcerers' Net complain about that, too. Hopefully by the time MotB comes out the game will be relatively bug-free.

-You'd think that for $49.99, they'd make the game already bug free. Wishful thinking, I guess...

-Oh well. I'll eventually be able to play it! :)

Be glad you didn't blow that much on Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter... that's still bug ridden and as far as I'm aware has for all intents and purposes has stopped being supported in favor of GR:AW2. Obsidian/Bioware is awesome compared to most companies in terms of supporting their games.
Lord Karsus

04-15-07, 05:54 PM
-That is very true. I bought Neverwinter Nights like two to three years ago, meaning that it had already been out for a good three or four years. They still had plenty of support stuff on their website. Plus, they really do make fantastic games...:)

And here's some more to whet your appetite, ladies and gentlemen: the bad boys in Red are in, as official as Elminster's pipe! Do a prestidigitation on those robes, and ready an action to call dibs on those finger of death scrolls! Time to make old Szass Tam proud!

There's more, of course - check

I completed the OC and the ending was a complete let down. It was a bad way to end and it seemed as if it was rushed to finish a deadline.
Overall however I enjoyed the game and will be buying the expansion.
Now just waiting for decent mods from the community.

Any game set in Rashaman better have everyones favorite Ranger and Hamster Duo.

Edit: Eh; The OC was no worse than the OC of NWN

I'd like to have Minsc referenced, but not actually meet him, it might be a bit of a let-down. Still, it might be a great easter egg if you get to meet Dynaheir's little sister, for example, or have her in your party.

I bought NWN 2 for a little while ago, and i think that it has a LOT less bugs and crashes than NWN 1.
NWN1 crashed alot for me, lost 5 whole lvls beacuse of that, and NWN2 has only crashed once. That was becuse i ran internet, antivirusscan, and a game of mindsweeper when i ran NWN2.
I am going to by the expanshion. I am realy sick of the sword coast.( my campains usaly run there)

NWN2 ROCKS!!!!

I much prefer the graphics of NWN2 over NWN1. Now if we can have a greater variety of faces/heads for ALL the races. Isn't it funny that most of the really good looking character mods come from the fans who create it for free? It should be coming from the people to who I paid my hard earned $49.95 U.S.

Maybe these companies should fire their art/design departments and hire the best of the fans.

(it took the Oblivion fan scene to create good looking faces and better clothes for it as well)

Its sounds much as like The Sims/Sims 2, the best game fixes and objects come from the fans. (Off Topic comment)

I'll admit my ignorance here, "OC"?
I'll assume Original campaign, and not Orange County, right?
(Though I am intrigued at the idea of having Mitcha Barten controllable on my computer :D )

Although I haven't gotten to play NWN (neither one), I love the concept behind it and any new expansion pack is definitely good news.

Yes in NWN jargon OC means the original campaign, much in the same way here on the boards OP means the original poster who started a thread.

Any word on new classes/prestige clases? Say like.... a red wizard?
ElberethSilverleaf

from what I've read on the forums, Red Wizard ais in the works, not sure about the Rashemi (sp?) female only prestige class though. And supposedly theyt are adding 1 or 2 core classes as well.

Just to put a point, I like them bad guys.

Okay, so here's some extra info for you all CRPG fans: there was apparently a big presentation at A-kon. For those who (like me) weren't there, here is what I could glean from press releases and comments so far:

- new races: the guys up there have said that we can expect to see genasi and half-drow. Okay, we can expect to see gargantuan warforged half-elementals and vampire awakened elephant ghosts, but chances are we'd still be getting genasi and half-drow.

- new base classes: looks like the Spirit Shaman and the Favored Soul are making the cut, but it seems that the Duskblade might juuust join them. Let's hear it for spellcasters!
- disclaimer: Favored Soul wings might not be included in the package. Maybe.

- PrCs: okay, here we go in rumor territory, but from what I've seen either the Enlightened Fist or the Sacred Fist are probably in. Which, unfortunately, doesn't sound too good for me: I want to get my grubby keyboard on the Shou Disciple, and I doubt they will have 3-4 monkish PrCs in a single expansion. Red Wizards are confirmed to be a human-only PrC (yay for fantasy racism); and while it seems most people are expecting to see hathrans in the posse, so far the High Ones have not spoken - to the best of my knowledge.

- more gameplay options: it seems that NPCs might be getting influence with you. Soviet Russia jokes, anyone? Also, limitations on rest and probable interruptions a la Baldur's gate.

- better thought out domains: afaik there will also be more on deific weapons (i.e. Bastard Sword for Kelemvor, shuriken for Lliira and Mystra... I wonder if there will be a chakram for Shar).

- more terrain options, monsters, etc.

I think I read somewhere that epic warlocks will not be able to access the eldritch sculptor feat...:pbbbtt:

Honestly if it does not load for you do not worry you are not missing much. The graphics are nice but I built a top of the line rig and could not run it and max settings at over 10fps, that should not happen.

You can tell the OC had potential but it was very rushed. The 3/4 mark of the game is really good where it starts feeling more like BG1. The last 1/4 is really bad and shows how rushed it really was, the cutscenes turn into still panels. The first half of the game was just alright it had more plot than NWN1 by leaps and bounds but it was also very slow, as much as NWN1 was a hackfest it was fun, its expansions even more so.

Though the toolset interface was improved but the Persistent World side of things turned out really bad. Making hard for online communities to really host modules of any significant size. I hear that the community is working on fixing that but it slow coming and its really hindering people, they should not have to work on getting the game working they should be working on getting content up and running.

I still have faith NWN2's expansion will right the wrongs but I'm not holding my breath. The graphics engine needs to be improved and made more efficient, the graphics are good but they are not top of the line especially for how taxing it is on the hardware. The game engine needs to handle multiplayer better, if I want to run a PW I need more than 25 maps to a server. And they really need to release a polished single player game.

Here you go...:)
Eldritch Sculptor [Epic]

You control and shape your eldritch blasts like a master sculptor.

Prerequisites: One invocation from the least, lesser, greater, and dark blast shape invocation categories, Spellcraft 24 ranks.

Benefit: You can use two eldritch blasts per round as a full attack action, rather than the normal limit of one. You can apply eldritch essences to both blasts. If you possess the Lord of All Essences feat, you can imbue each blast with two eldritch essences. Activating this ability is part of the action to use an eldritch blast.

The area and range of all your eldritch blasts is doubled. Activating this ability is part of the action to use an eldritch blast. If you imbue your eldritch blast with the eldritch spear blast shape, the range increases to 500 feet. If you are using the hideous blow invocation, you no longer suffer attacks of opportunity for invoking this power in melee and all attacks of opportunity you make can include hideous blow. If you imbue your eldritch blast with the eldritch chain blast shape, you may start the chain up to 120 feet away from you and the maximum distance between each target increases to 60 feet. The area of the eldritch doom blast shape increases to 40 feet from you. The range of your eldritch cone increases to 120 feet.

You gain +2 bonus on attack rolls to hit an opponent with your eldritch blast. This is an extraordinary ability.

Normal: A warlock can use only one eldritch blast per round. Using the hideous blow blast shape provokes attacks of opportunity and cannot be used as part of an attack of opportunity.

I agree. When I see what can be done (Oblivion) and look at NWN2 graphics, I wonder what they were thinking...

Or an even better example, look at Dark Messiah! Ignore that its just a hack and slash. It's beautiful AND! it runs smooth like butter. Not to mention its using a graphics/physics engine that anyone can buy to use, which companies even less of a reason to make a bad graphics engine when they could have just used the Source engine. Mapped D&D rules to it and shipped it. *sigh*

By the way, the yesterday interview said that the graphics will be optimised for the expansion. Do we dare hope?
