| akhlakh the devastator08-17-05, 10:49 AM | The occult Slayer ability Mind Over Magic, how does this work? Does it have to be activated like Spell turning or will it just reflect any spell back at anytime using your Occult Slayer lvl +5 for spell lvl able to be turned. Also does it work on area affect spells? The description makes it very unclear. |
| Mula08-17-05, 12:30 PM | I think it should say 'as an immediate action' instead of a free action. I think the idea is that you can activate it even when it's not your turn (as long as you're not flat-footed) and then the ability deflects the spell as spell turning. The spells affected are as per spell turning, i.e. all spells with a 'target' entry, but not 'target: touch'. Hence, no area effect spells. |
| akhlakh the devastator08-29-05, 11:56 AM | That's similar to how i intepret it too, but i wonder if anyone knows for sure how this ability works, or if anyone has been using it in a different way? |

| akhlakh the devastator08-30-05, 07:46 AM | Why. because of the hatred for spellcasters? The Occult Slayer isn't like the Forsaker where he has to refuse any benefits of magic. An occult Slayer can still use magic he just hates spellcasters. Hating spellcasters doesn't mean he tries to kill every spellcaster he sees at least it isn't written that he has to. Anyone agree/disagree? |

Anyone agree/disagree? I would somewhat agree with what you're saying. It does sound somewhat like the OS tries to take out spellcasters who abuse their priveleges. Still, I'd say how 'irresponsible' they see spellcasters is a bit ambiguous. |

| akhlakh the devastator08-31-05, 12:16 PM | Just out of curiosity why do you use it as an immediate action instead of a free action if it is lised in the book as a free action? I'm curious to know what the reason is as I may use it that way also. |
| shadevarr08-31-05, 12:30 PM | Occult Slayers in my game are purely Amnish. It only makes sense with their laws regarding the practice of magic. Aside form that, using it as an immediate action means that they can turn spells that are cast at any time in the round, not just during their turn. |
| akhlakh the devastator09-04-05, 08:04 PM | For Mind Over magic does the DM roll on the spell lvl the OS can turn as he would for Spell Turning or is there no DM roll and the spell level turnable is OS lvl +5? Any insight would be very helpful. |
