Official City of the Spider Queen Conclusion? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-04-05, 01:49 PM I was wondering if any of the sourcebooks out has anything about the events that take place in the City of the Spider Queen adventure? The Underdark sourcebook has a short little blurb about Maerimydra but I was curious as to wheter Wizards of the Coast published any sort of resolution to Irae's cult.

If they have published a conclusion, can somebody please point me to it.

03-04-05, 02:06 PM I hate when official material contradicts things that have happened in my games (although it does happen fairly often). The last game I ran killed Solom (twice actually, once as a revenant) so there goes his ruling of Szith Morcane.

Well that's the "problem" of using a published world. A lot of events are going to change from our games vs. TSRs/WOTCs version. Hells I can't tell you the countless changes I've wrote out that TSR/WOTC put in the sourcebooks/novels/web content/dragon & dungeon articles. :)

If this was my version and I made those changes then I'd toss the official canon info.

03-04-05, 02:59 PM Remember that while Maerimydra is destroyed, the Kiaransaleens are still there. Even Szith Morcane is around and well, as its archmage is there trying to close all the exits to the surface world. So while Maerymidra and its power as a drow city "is gone", the drow remain there (and probably the rest of the attackers are too, for the time being. Only twice did I came across FR adventures who definetly said what their impact would be on official Faerūn, Hellgate Keep and For Duty and Deity, regardless of the PCs actions.

03-04-05, 05:47 PM Yeah, I realize that's the trouble with a published world. I just seldom use "Realms Shaking" events or plots from Novels in my campaigns. I ran Spider Queen because I was at a very busy point in my life (work and grad school etc..) and didn't have time to write my own adventures like I usually do.

My campaigns usually take place at least a year earlier than the novels are set in as well so I can make changes in the world as I need too, I figured it had been a while since "Spider Queen" came out and I didn't think they would have an official conclusion for it.

We have since retired that campaign anyway so these PC's won't know the difference anyway (seeming as they are in an entirely different part of the world and are currently level 2).

I do the same thing. I think it's important to maintain a universal continuity as much as possible, especially if your gamers are just as immersed in the FR world as the DM.
