Lord Donnachie 03-07-04, 12:12 PM	I have a soft spot for those old 1e and 2e mods and their bad art! I was wondering which old mods out there are easily playable in FR (I know must can be converted but I am interested in only the better mods) The G series- I've played these mods many times and each time is a blast. D series- I think iv'e killed Loth (or her avatar as we played it, 10 times) What about the Bloodstone mods and are there any others out there that are worth my time? D
Lashan 03-07-04, 06:53 PM	You know, any module can be converted to play in the FR. Sure, some might take some work, but many of them are pretty easy. I always loved using Against the Cult of the Reptile God set in Tasseldale. That works really well. I just inserted the village near the southern end of the Dale, though I changed the name (as its too close to Ordulin). Against the Slave Lords could be set in the Lake of Steam area. The only real issue is the extinct volcano idea, and it fits there. The Lost Caverns of Tsoljanth would be pretty easy to put in. I forget what that module that introduced the Yuan-Ti are, but they could be placed in the FR. It's been a while since I saw that module. The new FR book coming out should help with that. There are a ton of ways to use the old modules in FR.
Lord Donnachie 03-08-04, 03:35 PM	Let me revise my question, aside from G1-3 and the D1-3 and Q-1 (super mod called Spider queen) which older mods are any good and worth me getting. BTW lashan, I used your nickname in my game last night. I needed a name for a Halfling merchant and Lashan was the first name that popped into my mind. He sells exotic pets in Silverymoon.:) D

Some have had success using those Greyhawk modules in the Realms, but I like the Greyhawk sensibility enough not to like bending it to fit the Realms sensibility which I also like. The work of David Trampier and Erol Otus is not 'bad art', it just isn't in a voguish style. I'd take one of their illustrations over 20 Player's Guide to Faerūn pictures. The yuan-ti module is I1 Dwellers of the Forbidden City. Several Realms-related modules are for 1st edition AD&D: FRC1 Ruins of Adventure, I3-5 Desert of Desolation, N4 Treasure Hunt, N5 Under Illefarn, OP1 Tales of the Outer Planes, REF4 The Book of Lairs II, REF5 Lords of Darkness. Was this halfling merchant actually named for Lashan of Scardale?

Lashan 03-08-04, 08:30 PM	Haha! Glad that my handle can give some inspiration. By the way, I took my handle from Lashan of Scardale, the would be King of the Dalelands. I had my first campaign in a while be based on the players involved in getting setup for Lashan's little war. I always thought that that bit of Realmslore was fascinating, so I based a campaign on it. Dwellers of the Forbidden City! That's right. I always remember that frog getting blasted by that wizard's lightning bolt. Hmmm...there are a lot of great 1E modules out there. I have only recently gotten into Greyhawk, so I have always stolen modules and put them into FR. I do play in a Living Greyhawk game now, though. Oh, and I just introduced a younger friend of mine to the World of Greyhawk for the first time.
