I'm trying to play the original Pool of Radiance (1988) on Windows XP, but my computer is running too fast. In other words, when the NPCs make their move, it's instantaneous, and I can't see what they did? How do I fix this?

I forgot to add, I didn't know where else to get help, so I figured this board would be as good as any. Thanks in advance...

Hi,

I think you'd better try on the Software boards, you'd get more answers that way.

Anyhoo, I've used this in the past: http://www.cpukiller.com/

It's a small program which slows down your CPU in order to play older games.

Hoping this helps,

Thanks a bunch! I'll try it tonight once I get home...

I know I had a few speed problems running them on a 486.

There's a option to alter how fast combat is - I'm not sure whether it's only available when in combat. This might be something else you could try.

Keep with it - there's quite a few old SSL Forgotten Realms games around. The FR Archives has a 4 CD set of most of them.
