I've been a fan of fr for a very long time and have played just as long. I recently started dming fr but wasn't to happy with the sourcebook and what not until i saw the entry for the kir-lanan. Then i got to thinking about an entire group dedicated to the destruction of the gods. The order is obsessed in finding 3 shards to an ancient weapon that can completly destroy a god by merely cutting an avatar. they have one piece already but don't know where the other two are. each shard only has a fraction of the full power of the weapon but are very powerful indeed. the order has just recently come into power. the group consists mainly of former zhentarim and bhaal clergy, and have allied secretly with the fire knives. The visible leaders of the Order are semmemon, Dracul (a powerful vampire fighter), A kir-lanan elder, a beholder, and a couple of other high level characters that I don't remember at the moment. They are called the Center. The true rulers are a group of 5 mysterious beings known as the Truth. They are led by the One. The power of the One allows all activities of the Order to be hidden from Mystra and Savras. No god or worshipper of the gods can scry or peak into the workings of the order.

02-14-05, 09:33 PM Firstly, unless you're under 14 years of age, please don't use Dracul as the name of a vampire in FR.

The idea sounds OK. I would suggest looking up the powers of the Sceptre of Savras in Volo's Guide to All Things Magical (free download from the WotC site) as it possesses two of the powers you have described:

1. It can capture a power's divine essence by striking an avatar.
2. It can block divination magic even that employed by the powers.

It sounds like you might be able to use existing Realmslore to fill out some of the details of your idea.

02-15-05, 12:58 AM First off I suck at names. Occasionally I come up with cool names but usually I modify existing names. How does Marovax sound for the vamp? I'll definatley look into old realmslore to help me.

02-15-05, 04:08 AM During the times of ancient Netheril there existed a sect of fanatics (psychopats ?) who believed that it is humans who should rule the gods (or something along these lines). By sacrificing their own life essence during a mass suicide-ritual they created the minor artifact known later as Jathiman Dagger (Jathimans was the name of the sect).

I've got more accurate info on them somewhere, but can;t find it right now.

Here's my suggestion: work out the vampire's background and origin and then give him a name consistent with that origin (there are example names for each region in the FRCS). After all, he was a human before he was a vampire! ;)

By sacrificing their own life essence during a mass suicide-ritual they created the minor artifact known later as Jathiman Dagger (Jathimans was the name of the sect).
