| Herr Doktor10-05-03, 11:22 PM | I'm starting a new campaign soon, (I do this a lot... If it weren't for shifting schedules and such this wouldn't be the case), this time I'm having the PCs start out as apprentices in a sort of school for adventurers I have built in the western portion of Mistledale near Peldan's Helm. The teachers are retired (or semi-retired) adventurers who've taken it upon themselves to train able youths of the Dalelands in their dangerous profession. So far I've got some commitment from two players (which may make up the entire party). One of them wants to be a rogue, the other wishes to be a paladin of Nobanion. What would the regular duties of a paladin of Nobanion be so far from any jungles, or plains of the Shaar? Perhaps he would make a good party leader, that is part of Nobanion's dogma... I'm a bit unsure. If you've had experience dealing with this deity before, or anyone wishing to be a paladin of this deity let me know about it. Any other comments and advice is welcome as well! |

I have an awakened lion/paladin of Nobanion as a primary NPC who travels with the party. Basically, I've gone with two major aspects a follower (especially paladin) of Nobanion has: 1) Nobility/regalness and 2) Protector. As Nobanion is not only the diety of nobility but many intelligent animals and beasts as well, I've been using that to promote the faith. A new, large following of awakened animals taking up the banner of Nobanion has emerged. And many of these animals see themselves as the epitomy of their species. Or perhaps as the protector of all other animals like themselves. Or you could have the paladin taking up the role as the protector of the party, not just the leader. My NPC is very noble in both speech and deed. He usually takes his time to figure out every move before acting. He speaks only when spoken to or when he feels his opinion is better than another. It makes for some very interesting roleplaying. A lion who acts as if he was born a Prince. |
